What RC (radio controlled) car do you have?
Re: What RC (radio controlled) car do you have?
I used to have a Hobao Hyper 7 3.5cc 1:8 buggy.
In the gravel it did unreal driftys, and easy as hell to control bein 4WD.
I regrettably sold it not long ago for $50.
I'm looking to get back into it and hopefully within 12 months I should have myself a HPI Vorza Flux with all the hotted up options, hopefully!

Oh man, I had no idea those kits were still in production!
When I was at high school I had a mate who bought a Tamiya Hornet kit and the end caps for the shockers didn't have the threads machined into them. It put me off buying an expensive RC kit car...

Re: What RC (radio controlled) car do you have?
geezer, I have wanted a Wild Willy since when they first came out in the early eighties. Just last year they did a second release, with a few improvements/changes, and I just had to get it
I'm a big kid eh... My 15 yr old son is saying "where's mine dad?"

Hornets have never been expensive.geezer101 wrote:When I was at high school I had a mate who bought a Tamiya Hornet kit and the end caps for the shockers didn't have the threads machined into them. It put me off buying an expensive RC kit car...
They aren't good to drive, or a good car.
Some Tamiya cars are good, others are for little kids to drive.

Re: What RC (radio controlled) car do you have?
When they came out in the early 80's, they were expensive enough... And considering they were among the first of the 'off the shelf kits', they were good for their time. I remember the 3 popular models - the Hornet, the Grasshopper and the Wild Willy's jeep. You had one of these at school, you were a superstar!75wagon wrote:Hornets have never been expensive.

Re: What RC (radio controlled) car do you have?
Well 75, they use good quality parts and they are cheap to mod compare to my fleet of Tamiya. I think there kinda better than the Tamiya to be honest but I wouldnt buy a Sakura Zero, I personal buy the Sakura D3 as it already set up for drift. The pros of the sakura zero it a hybrid so any part will fit into it. Once I done collecting parts this what it will be like: http://csjunkies.com/viewtopic.php?f=34&t=1475 Personal they are cheap well put together and if you have a crash it will be cheap to fix. I thinking buying this as my next one: http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/150987020530 ... 1423.l2649
I got another few more pieces to get then I will throw a photo up

Re: What RC (radio controlled) car do you have?
Yeah fair enough
Re: What RC (radio controlled) car do you have?
I bought an Evo X shell off a local guy in the last week or so. Felt like a challenge, thought I could have a go customising it.
Here's a few pics of what I did to it.
I wanted the shell to sit lower then how it was made (I wanted the sills on the ground).

I also wanted to run larger offset wheels then the body was made for.

Guards chopped out higher (so body could sit lower) and flares made to suit.

Started painting, thought I'd do something a little bit more obvious on this shell.

All painted up ended up like this.

And I made logo up for my team name...

And reverse on the other side of course.

Any one else into RC Drifting?
Dave...

Re: What RC (radio controlled) car do you have?
Not a serious hobby of mine.....The RC i have is an off road truck (it was 4x4 but a took out the front tailshaft so it RWD now).....i've never really invested any money or time in it...having said that...I do like slot car racing (drag racing)which i dabble in every so often
Built with pride, Driven in anger
Re: What RC (radio controlled) car do you have?
is that guy still selling his for cheap ?
Re: What RC (radio controlled) car do you have?
Got myself a Tamiya TT-01 not that long ago for cheap, just for fun and for the occasional car meet/RC drift meet that a mate sometimes organises.

It came with a box full of spares, including a light kit, some adjustable coilover suspension and some wheels. Only thing I've fitted is the suspension as the original shocks and springs are no good if you are on anything but a perfectly smooth surface. I have also now locked the rear diff.

And after spending some time practising on the concrete slab out the front of our shed the tires got worn down, couldn't source a set of tires for the spare wheels locally so got a cheap set of wheels and tires for now.

Here's a little clip of it before I done all the mods to it.

Re: What RC (radio controlled) car do you have?
You need countersteer in your life my friend.
I've just put together my first RWD RC drifter. Did my first real test/tune on Tuesday. It still needs some more work, but I'm getting there.
It started as this:

And ended up like this:

Enough steering lock?

And just this last weekend made a weightshift battery mount
