Lowering sigma wagon with King springs -WTF?

Post by ddt »

OK, King springs only have a 30mm lowering option according the local distributor. That's fine cos tinkering in photoshop i ideally wanted 30mm for the front and 20mm for the rear.
So i take it in but what happens is that the front comes down 50mm and the rear 0mm. WTF?
The dudes say they use the equivalent standard height sedan springs in the rears of wagons. I checked the part numbers they used against the King springs advertised on ebay for sig wagon and they are correct.
I'm thinking to ask them to swap out the rears for the lowered sedan ones as they should sit 30mm lower that the current ones. They say it takes a while for them to settle in, but i dunno -surely if that's the case then ALL four springs will drop and then i'll be even lower at the front!

Has anyone had king springs fitted before? I'm stunned at how different both the front and back are from 'advertised'! Is lowering a car such a black art?!

Well, there were pedders springs in the rear but the ride height looked totally stock to me -see old pic below and new pic below. The wheel centres were in line with the chrome strip running under the doors.

The front's come down too much and the rear too little! If the previous owners fitted harder shockies in the rear, could that affect things?

harder shocks could affect it but i really am not sure best to check with a suspension specialist also for lowered and replacement standard springs try Dobinsons spirngs and suspension in Rockhampton they manufacture and sell their own range and they have a listing for sigma sedans and wagons. here is the link to their coil spring catalogue http://www.dobinsonsprings.com/site/htm ... ntlist.pdf
they also install as well. as far as i know they can custom manufacture springs for almost anything
this car is all motor real motors don't need forced induction or nitrous and there's no substitute for cubes.

the shocks should not affect the height, but once you lower the rear again it will sit perfect,as the front sits perfect, what type of rear shocks are they,i know the pump up shocks can raise the height, but even a stiffer than normal shock should not affect the height. this wagon is coming along very nice by the way,are you going to remave the mudflaps?
