Lower control arms
Lower control arms
Hi, I have been told the Sigma control ares fit the LA lancer??
I have an LA lancer rally car. It has bigger struts in the front so it sits front up.
Porblem is i now have positive camber. I have seen people cut and lengthen lower arms. I would prefer not to.
any help.

That may just be who told me.
I will give him a call. Unless you are reading this Steve.

Re: Lower control arms
Newer Sigma control arms fit and are about 5cm longer, you will need to find two sigmas so you can get two longer tie rod adjusters to get the steering working properly (one side on the Sigma has a longer tie rod that you won't use) I think it's GJ onwards that have the longer ones, earlier are the same length as the Lancer ones.

yep, im reading it....lol
im pretty sure my whole front end is sigma, my front sway bar is thicker than the stock lancer one and my struts are a little wider in diameter (metal tubing where the shock slides into). but im not too sure about the controll arms, i have a fair bit of negative camber so im guessing its got the sigma ones in it too...it handles good like this...
I get it registered next week........oooooooooooowwwwwwwwwwwwwww who's a happy boy...lol...
a momnet i have been waiting for for nearly a year......lol

Re: Lower control arms
hi i have a la lancer i used to do autocross's in that im selling
i made a set of longer lower control arms useing 2 sigma control arms to make one so theres only one join then reinforced it top and bottom they were 25mm longer each side which gave me 5 degrees negative camber and 50mm more track i used the sigma arms because they have a better bush but u have to use the sigma pins with them as well they bolt straight up.

Re: Lower control arms
So, a little off topic but...
Lancer crossmembers do NOT "bolt in" to a GA/B Galant.
They can be made to fit
GJ Sigma lower control arms bolt up, no problem.
GJ Sigma (4 bolt) strut tops can be redrilled to Galant/Lancer (3 bolt)
It is then a simple matter to bolt in GJ struts, complete with brakes.
Using the GJ tie rods appears to give massive toe in
Looking at the Galant 'A' arms and the GJ lower control arms it appears they are approx the same length.
I guess Lancer lower control arms are shorter since the cars are narrower.
That is as far as I got.
cheers

Re: Lower control arms
I've got a set or two of Lancer tie rod adjusters that should sort out the toe. Might need to change the "long" tie rod to a Lancer one as well. Got some Lancer arms if you want to go shorter or need less camber.
Now where are the pics???

Re: Lower control arms
I've got the Galant tie rods to try.
I reckon the LCAs need to be LONGER to get some neg camber - but it looks like the guards will fit on easily the way it is, so I will leave it until the thing is running.

Re: Lower control arms
lancer cross members DO bolt into galants, but there is no mounting for the castor rods. la lca's care the same as early sigma lca's, but the longer sigma ones have bolt in ball joints which are a different taper to Gh ones so you need the two bolt gj/gk struts to use them!
