Re: 75wagon's 75 GC Wagon with twin carbs (pic heavy)
New for 2010 or at least that's the plan.
I want to restore my dash and console. Meaning, I want to remove the fake wood grain panels and replace them with real timber veneer (to match my steering wheel). After that I'll re-silver the surrounds around my gauges and controls. I'll have to get new carpet this year too. The original carpet is looking a bit shabby. Then I'll be after a picnic basket, to stealthily mount my sub in. Keeps the almost grand-pa look happening too.
I'm currently making wheel centres for it. Those who have noticed, I don't have any (I don't like the original centres that came with the wheels). I'm making flat aluminium plates that will bolt to the wheels. These hopefully will be finished by tomorrow (I'll post up pics when they are done), I've made 1, I've got 3 to go. Then I'll polish them. I hope they look as good as I hope they will.

Re: 75wagon's 75 GC Wagon with twin carbs (pic heavy)
I've finished them. here they are love 'em or hate 'em. The alloy centres took me 8 hrs to make. 3hrs to fit, and 3 hrs to work out and make the wheel centre logos. So I'm not changing them. I've invested way too much time in them.
I can make just about anything being a signwriter, but size sometimes causes problems. These centres are 60mm in Diameter. The lettering was bordering on being to small..
Next job: steering wheel centre logo...

I can make stuff like this for others if you want me too. The better idea you have of what you want helps. But sometimes the stuff people want just can't be done, due to size etc...
Try me, I'll let you know if I can. If you want to copy logos all I need is a pic and a size. Understand that this stuff takes time and I can't do it for free. But the more copies of them you want, the cheaper each they will be. Multiples are easier.

Re: 75wagon's 75 GC Wagon with twin carbs (pic heavy)
Well I've just put the No.5 cam in.
Interestingly, it hasn't changed anything but the redline. It used to hit a wall at about 5500rpm, not it revs to 6500. The idle is a little lower and a little lumpy , it's a little bit cruiser to drive now, it just seems to have spread the power band (if anything in this motor has anything to do with power). It will be interesting to see what it does to the fuel economy.
But generally, so far I like it. kodos said my my carbies were too small for it, and he's right as for making speed/power. But my car has never been about either of those 2 things.

Cool
When I put a cam in my Saturn I rushed upstairs and dragged my GF down to listen to it (with much rolling of eyes on her part). Even she had to agree it sounded "good". Mate - it sounded FANTASTIC - but you probably have found that out for yourself. No Astron or 4G63BT will ever sound that good. You'll be the envy of everyone with ears.

It already sounded good with the carbs and exhaust. all this has done is added a lump to it.

Now time for a Rebuild of the bottom end to cope with the Revs, and a tune of the Carbs and she may keep up with Sam's Sigma

hey dave what's with the "log in to make me an offer" on your cardomain?
Re: 75wagon's 75 GC Wagon with twin carbs (pic heavy)
I don't know, I just thought that was on everyone's.
No one has made me an offer yet, would be interesting to see what someone would offer though.

Today Australia Day (Public Holiday), some friends came over for the day. A couple are members of the site, ffiona (ffire) was one of them and she took some more pics of the wagon, just thought I'd share them... The location is 2 blocks from my house....
Hope you like them...
Here is a link to ffiona's website if you would like to look at her other work http://www.simplesite.com/ffirephoto

Re: 75wagon's 75 GC Wagon with twin carbs (pic heavy)
Thanks for all the comments. But the reality is ffiona has made my car look much better than it really is.
It's a shame it's been vandalised. At least it someone was going to graffiti it, you'd at least think it would be good graffiti, not rubbish tags. Maybe it shows that the graffiti artists where I live are all talentless...

Hmmm, hadn't thought of that, but now you mention it, Maybe?Skidmark wrote:Nice one Dave, great location for the shots, are you perhaps getting in early for the 2011 calander?
The price of fuel on the bowser is 57.5cents/litre so I've been trying to work out when it shut. I got my L's in Feb 88, fuel was 35.7c/l then. So I figure the servo shut in the late 80's or early 90's. Any Ideas?Sigmaproject wrote: I can remember getting fuel at that servo

I don't feel so old now thanks Dave, lol. I got my L's on my 16th in March 1989
I also remember petrol being around the 40c mark. I wish wages had risen as dramaticly as fuel pricing.
