Today found time to adjust the handbrake shoes
Bit better. But didn't wanna do em to tight so they don't
Drag. But they need a bit more tension, still rolls
On massive epic hills. Guess have to re-adjust again
Sigh :/

u may find the cable has also stretched.....if its the original cable, its been pulled to full tension everyday for about 25years........much like myself really lol

I just flicked it another few notches on the shoe

Dunno if it's dragging but after driving 100kms/h for
A few Km's still can put my finger on outside of the
Disc where the shoe runs on the inside. And it didn't
Burn my finger prints off lol. So hopefully it's right
Now. Cos didn't wanna adjust it to much and wear
Out the inside of new discs to quick.

Hey, been awhile started on the surge tank
needed few more speedflo fittings and a check valve for the bosch pump

removed tank feed

removed old fuel pump and fuel filter

most of wiring, fuses, relays and plumbing is done. (spaghetti ev where lots of tidying up to do


Just wondering can a bigger fuel pump
Cause problems? Will it stress the fuel pressure
Reg? The main pump that got with the surge
Tank is a Bosch 0580 254 910 which is specd at
130L per hour pressure 5 bar. The pump that was
Already installed is quite smaller but now markings
So can't compare specs.

Also existing pump had a ryco z153 fuel filter
Out of the fuel feed line then into main pump.

I'm thinking of running same again so that
Z153 fuel filter comes out of tank into the low pressure
Pump to fill the surge tank. But also wanna run
Another fuel filter maybe z153 also in bay on the inlet side of fuel rail.
So the pump and injectors are protected as the the filter
I pulled out is chockers with filth. Would this work
Or also cause troubles?

Also return line is the one off the the pressure reg?

Today plumbed up the return line to tank
Top fitting on surge. And the fpr return line
To the 2nd to top fitting on surge

In still going to use the standard black blue
Wire on the main control relay of the ecu
Looks like the original pump in there was run
Straight from that wire. But this new main
Pump prob needs more current so running
It straight from battery via fuse and relay. But
Still thinking using that as the trigger for relay for main pump

I've done same thing for the low pressure surge tank
Filler pump fuse and relay. Should I use the
Same trigger for its relay? Or should it be on
On the the ignition on position or run position like
The original main pump?

Tested the low pressure pump fills tank ok, got few
Slight leak need to tighten fittings and need to make or
Find some kind of bracket to secure the low pressure pump
But slowly getting there.

Tested the setup yesterday. Worked fine
For 5mins then after left car for awhile and second
Start main pump blew fuse pump has gone short
Anyone had this prob with Bosch fuel pumps? New
One is like $300 plus. Awwwwwesome :/

ok so removed the stuffed bosch pump.
and put my old one back in with the surge set up.
seems to function, mounted it slighty. took it for a lil drive
feels sheet house, feels like running very lean, no power :/

thinking the fuel filter put at the in line onf the rail maybe too restrictive, will try
a higher flow one. hopefully thats it :/

also should the pumps have a regulated 12v supply?
as i'm using the standard ecu fuel pump control line through the control relay
to switch relays on which is switching the voltage straight from battery too the two pumps.

my bosch 044 and carter lift pump are just running straight from 12v supply through a relay that is turned on and off by the motec, I run a jaguar high pressure filter though. have you checked your fuel pressure? it should be about 40psi for standard magna injectors

whacked the old pump back in yesterday, to get car going again


fitted it today, tidied few things up,

i know should really have the filter from the surge to inlet of main pump to protect it, but
as can see there wont be enough room then to use the bracket, bit of a bad design.
will use like this for now. but wanna see if can get the bosch pump repaired, if can then will
change set up a bit.

cut a hole out in the fuel tank inspection plate, for the hoses.




made sure the sub still fits in, only just and hides the surge tank well


feels better to drive it now, so was worth the hassle i guess.

next time have some spare time will start on the haltech install.
need a base map to suit first though. as the map in it is for a 1jz.

Today whacked a fuel pressure gauge on main line in boot,


The old pump only puts out about 46-48psi
Then after turn car off sits at about 40 and after sitting

For awhile goes down to 20 then later on nothing (30m-1h)
Is that normal? I know the pumps not running but thought the line
Would stay pressurized.

Also would the return line from rail have no pressure?

you should always measure the fuel pressure from the rail or regulator if the reg has mulitple ports, the pressure drop after turning it off is fine and the return line should have very little pressure.

for standard magna injectors you want as close to 40psi as you can get, doesn't matter if it's not exact

friday got some 3" 316 grade stainless steel fitting for the
new custom intake for the haltech setup, rest of it is for cord

today tried to check the 90 degree 3" fittings will fit for intake


can either just use 1 90 degree fitting, and do this

or use two and do something like this

i reckon if use two will look better.
just gotta get them welded and add 2 barbs, one for the MAP sensor other for the rocker cover breather, also need a bung fitting installed for air temp sensor
with aftermarket computers where is it best to have the air temp sensor and map sensor, closest to the throttle body? or doesn't it matter
to much?

Bit late for that I think Scorpma? I personally wouldn't go for the extended intake pipe unless it was necessary to pass around or away from something else. You're still going to need a bracket attached to it so it doesn't work its way free - and a shroud or box to duct cool air from inside the guard into the air pod would be a good idea.

Almost low Enuff to do that but not quite, would need
A short straight piece in between the 2 45 degree bends
Battery relocated to boot anyway pain to connect
Everything back to front ie sub, surge tank
Pumps etc.

the other week saw an add on ebay for bosch 910
for $150 plus $10 frieght, so thought get one

since the other one is stuffed :/

the add description was bit unclear said genuine bosch fuel pump
replace bosch 0 580 254 910
recieved it monday hmm box bit small
they sent me a 0 580 254 911, and telling me its the same
hmm i dont think so
910 - 5 bar 130 Litres an hour
911- 4 Bar 95 Litres an hour
says 910s aren't available anymore (yeah right)
i can upgrade to another but have to pay difference frieght to return the
wrong one they sent me, and frieght for the new one too.
i think thats wrong since lied in add, so don't buy anything from autorepublic in melbourne. dodgy as!
bit of size comparison lol yeah sure its the same brah


know i prob don't need such a high spec pump at the moment but I like stuff to be over spec, cos dunno what doing with car in future.
so why change the fuel pump again and again. just go with the bigger one now.
does anyone know if the 911 will be enough for standard tr magna setup? as im not paying to send it back
when they should. looks like im stuck with it

today got the intake welded up, and polisehed it up, stainless comes up pretty good.

im thinking at pod end on the underside of pipe so can't see it.
and i'm hoping can just remove the rear plenum block off plate
and put barb on that for map sensor. then ready to start install of the haltech

was nice to take car for a drive again been a long time

two fittings came with the pump one was already on the pump output, i assumed
that was the check valve, but maybe the other fitting is. because when turn car off
pressure is quickly discharged.

Has anyone ever run a fuel only aftermarket
Ecu and the tr one running the rest.

Sounds like gonna be annoying hooking up
A full standalone

Thinking of just using the haltech e6x to control
Injectors etc and tr standard ecu running ignition
Etc.

Or will the tr magna ecu chuck hissy fit without
The injectors connected. Also been advised
To loose the air flow meter and replace with map
Sensor. Pretty sure unplugging the afm will
Give u an error code. But does it effect the
Rest of ecu controlling?

yesterday got started on the haltech e6x install


unfortunately the nice person i bought it off didn't supply sensors
loom etc, so have to make up one.

was hoping to put in passenger foot well
lack of room, so under the passenger seat it is.

thursday took the plenum rear block off plate off
to get another barb put in for the map sensor and a thread for the air temp sensor







yesterday went to the wreckers
and got few vn/vp commodore coolant temp sensors for the haltech
and 1 tr magna one (black tr magna, blues commos)

in way was good i got so many of them, found out today when was metering things
that the coolant temp sensor for the ecu was open, probably another reason why running so s**t
also found my tps is set too 1.5v when throttle closed, which is about 30 percent throttle,
think its supposed to be set to .05v closed throttle, and throttle closed switch not working, prob cos
tps is set to high.

so today swapped that over today with one of the ones got from the wreckers
cleaned it up with wire brush first


and yesterday tested the magna and commodore sensors in hot water they seem to meter the same
they are both bosch sensors,, even seem to have same part number printed on them 0280 130 026
the only thing not to sure about the threads cos tried the commo one in the tr magna at the wreckers
but didn't seem to go in. but was hard to get too.

so haltech nearly there, just gotta connect trigger to something.

you should try and press the teeth of both sensors and see if the teeth mesh into each other or not.....you may find the Commodore's still ran imperial threads at that time......I know the Falcon's were.....hence why you were struggling to thread the different sensors in each other's hole
