GC hazards
So i know ive posted something similar before but who has put hazard lights in GC galant as im thinking about installing them and then running central locking module thing off them so when i press unlock the blinkers flash hahah

Your car has hazard lights. Little pull out button on the column opposite the indicator stalk.

Theres a hole there and thats it was it optional extra back in the day would the wiring be there ?

Take the column surround of and have a look, I am pretty sure they had to have hazards to be legal. Maybe someone has broken the knob off.

yer wouldnt suprise me reckon the tapping into hazards would work with the central locking ?

Weird, must just be the imported stuff that had them. All my hardtops have hazard lights

They still have the wiring in the loom for the Japanese parking lights, I think they should have the plugs and loom for hazards I would think.

I'm 99% sure that at the time GCs and GDs were released here, hazard lights were illegal in Australia (go figure?), but obviously that wasn't the case in Japan. Which would be why the hard-tops all have them there, but the sedans and wagons don't. But the good news is, the wiring should all be there, even if there isn't a hole. I can't remember if the flasher unit is there or not (which is basically a relay and a cap), but the wiring should all be. If there's no hole in the column, I'm sure careful use of a drill can sort that issue out :-)

Having said all that, with your central locking/alarm/keyless entry, normally you have two wires for the indicators (as it appears you do in the wiring diagram you have), so can wire one to the left indicator circuit, and the other to the right. It may work out easier to do this in the long run...

oh ok yer luke i was thinking it more through last night one just tap into the stalk for the keyless entry lights and ive got a hole there so if the flasher unit isnt there what does that mean, are they easy to get and install ?

Yep, if there's no flasher, it's easy to sort out. I have a feeling though that everything's there, apart from the switch :-) It's been a while (15+ years!) since I did it to one of my Gals though, so I could be wrong!

Should do. As far as I have seen all Galants have the same looms. Even if you have a total pov pack it still has the wiring for a tacho, both at the dash and at the coil, has the wiring for the JDM parking lights so it should have all you need for hazards.
If you need a flasher can, they are pretty much a universal fit and shouldn't cost any more than $10 new or grab one from a wreckers.
I think the only difference between all flasher cans is the plug and there are only two types of those, two or three wire, lol
On a Galant and Sigma (most cars in fact) you will find them up under the dash on the right of the steering column

So ive taken apart the steering colum thingy hahah and this is the plug ive found is this for hazards ?

Yep, that would be it Still find it strange that there's no hazard switch in the forward column cover...but on the bright side you can get a pretty aftermarket hazard switch and fit it in the dash. Here's a little trick - if you haven't got a rear demister/air con switch you can pull a switch from a FWD Colt and fit it in where that small rectangular block off cover is next to the heater controls. Fits in beautifully from behind the dash

Nope, that is for the Japanese parking lights.
Check further down the loom, there will be a thin harness that runs along side the indicator harness. I will get a pic

Yellow circle is JDM parkers (the block off cover on the top of your column, in Japan these had a switch to set left or right parking lights)
Blue circle is the indicator and wiper loom
Red circle is the hazard light loom
Yours is there, it is what the parker plug is connected too
Out of interest, these are the parking light switches I was talking about, pre '75 cars had the twin switch and post '75 had the single switch.

Ah, so that's what that top block off is for...always wondered what it was So now you need to get your hands on a complete switch yoke for it. Seems easy enough to do

My lights are a 3 way flick up/centre/down switch on the dash under the fuel gauge area. Down is off, up one is parkers. And all the way is low beam. Pull back on the indicator stalk and you have high beam.

alright still working on this its dark and im being eaten by mozzies how do i forking get the stalk off the colum also those wires jason lead to a. circuit board

Ha ha, nice to know what that top switch was intended for- on mine, it's been converted to a switch for a detatchable spotlight!
So how'd you go finding the plug Jordan? Or did the mozzies get the better of you? They're bad in Adelaide tonight too- it feels like Singapore out there!

the pic above is all ive gotten to cant get stalk off talked to jason says there are some screws cant find them so gave up til morning mozzie got me heaps good around my elbow there were like 10 bumps and im allegic to them to add to it hahah
