custom bootfloor idea......I'VE FINALLY FINISHED IT !!!!!!!!
Hi guys,
I decided to have a crack at making a custom boot floor for a particular car (i used a TR Magna sedan in this case).
Basically what i've done is build a template that spells the word 'MITSUBISHI' on one piece and then the triple diamond emblem (in red) as another piece (yet to be done)

I know it's not very professional looking....but for a 1st shot at a project like this....i'm happy with it so far
Would love to know what you think......+ve or -ve, doesnt phase me

Hard to tell, at the moment it looks like a Mitsu towel or blanket. Once fitted to a car I think it will look okay.

Re: custom bootfloor idea......I'VE FINALLY FINISHED IT !!!!!!!!
hi all,
as the title suggests, i have finished the custom boot space
this is the picture of the (essentially) completed product
https://fbcdn-sphotos-a.akamaihd.net/hp ... 8842_n.jpg
Although this was my 1st attempt at this sort of work (even had to buy the power tools to get me started
) i did enjoy watching it all come together nicely and are willing to do another one for a member if they want.......the price i've put on them is $120.
(like i said to the buyer, im not a professional in this trade so i wont give a 'professionals' price....im just a bloke who enjoys doing this in my own backyard
like always, let me know what you think +ve or -ve.....doesnt phase me

Re: custom bootfloor idea......I'VE FINALLY FINISHED IT !!!!!!!!
The base is 12mm MDF, covered in 2mm underlay and then in black velour.
The letters are made of paper mache (the only letters i could find already in shape) covered in 2mm underlay and silver satin
The diamonds were stenciled out of the MDF base, covered in 2mm underlay and red satin
this particular piece is modelled to suit Sparkington's TR Magna sedan, obviously, i can do it in any model sedan (or wagon)....all i need is the original boot carpet as the mould so i know what shape and size to cut without marking out anything (which i got mine from the wreckers for 5 bucks)
all the letters were jigsawed out to base shape and size then hand filed out to appropriate shape and size for a nice, tight, flush fit.....the diamonds are simply marked up, jigsawed out, covered and squeezed back in.
My next boot space project are timber floor boards much like what you see in a WB 1 Ton ute....however, due to (lack of) money and in particular ,lack of skills, this will take quite some time to complete....but can certainly keep you posted with updates as to whats going on and what i'm upto if you wish.
If anyone is interested in me making them one (for the above price obviously) i could use it as a tutorial thread for the forums if you wish (doesnt seem to be alot of them in the interior/exterior threads)
I appreciate you taking the time to see what i've achieved as i've mentioned before, this is my 1st ever go at a timber project (hell my 1st time using a jigsaw
) and i must say..although its not as good as a professionals job, its something im quite proud of and enjoyed doing.
