nice one mate, like the detail under the hood. Just b aware that T3 turbo looks like a skyline one, they have a ceramic exhaust wheel and are known for snapping off when running over 13psi...

(TUFFSIG)

i actually bought the gears and spool from a guy in sydney who is on ebay, that was the last one he had?im sure he should have 3"9s though not to sure.i can get you his username if you want? im fitting it to my car.i have a backyarder guy that done my diff for my vnss that had his own buisness but does autos.i can get you his number if you want??he is in the western suburbs(sunshine)?
sh@#t yeah, cant wait for that VIC cruise.
the wheels are to suit a nissan silvia.the back fits perfect without a drama, the front need the hub machined to suit that extra little lip on the hub..pretty easy i guess

The better box to run (excluding the W58 of course) would be a Starion 5 speed.

If there is a lot of up and down play on the input shaft, it will most likely need to be reconditioned and will cost around $550.

Always replace the spigot bearing in the flywheel. that little bearing, when it fails, will kill a gearbox.

Cheers.

cheers mate,$550 sounds like a bargain..might just look into it,keep it as a spare.do you know anyone selling a starion box?

ive had my starion box behind 200rwkw for years when it was in the scorpion and it hasent gone and i give it a caining however you do have to convert to hydrolic clutch setup which is not hard you just need the setup from a starion itself
last year i bought a spart box with short shifter, flywheel , and clutch stuff for 500 bucks

standard jap 5 speed will prob snap with anything over 120kw id guess
at least with the stazza box they are built for a turbo car

so they aint that dear and a decent box too
with the short shifter kit they feel really nice
im running my with an cushion button clutch its a bit more forgiving then a full button clutch

and bolt directly up to a wide block 2.6 motor with no mods
bell housing just bolts up

It would depend on your "driving style".
It just depends on whether you dump or slip the clutch and at what RPM.
ISKA8 wrote:do you know anyone selling a starion box?
Not at this point in time but they usually sell for around $150 as a mystery box.

The hydraulic setup will probably set you back $150 for the new master/slave cylinders and braided hose with the right fittings. I used the Starion clutch pedal, which is relatively easy to install. I did the whole cable to hydraulic conversion, including swapping the gearbox, in 1 day, by my self, with only basic tools.

BTW: I'm a computer geek by trade (with delusions of adequacy), not a mechanic.

Cheers.

i had a std sigma jap box with over 200rwkw, it lasted about 2years and hundreds of clutch pop 2nd gear skids before 2nd threw 5 teeth off.

yeah its not hard at all
did you bolt your pedal to the sigma pedal box or directly to the firewall
i heard that it was better to attach it to both so i did that

yeah those prices seem about right

I know... :D

It's currently being reconditioned.

I did both. Removed the old clutch pedal and just bolted a bit of angle between the starion clutch pedal box and the sigma one.
The 2 bolts in the firewall are fairly strong and could probably support the force but I decided it just needed a bit more support on the front.

Cheers.

a starion box sounds like a good investment, ill keep my eyes and ears peeled for some one selling one..with the jap box,i guess its me and my luck for now.ill see how it goes anyway.
my driving style is pretty hard never the less.

i had my N/A 2.6L injected scorpion with a locked diff and went through 26 tyres in burnouts lol. . gearbox and diff held up, but had a lot of backlash. when i changed the box when i sold the car, i checked it out and it had a few missing teeth lol. and diff would turn a quarter around before the wheels started moving lol .. so a lot of backlash hahaha
