The screamer

New coil position with new coils. Leads went from 200m long to about 30cm..

Shitty engine bay pic

And after 9 months of trying to figure out why it was doing this. Diagnosing everything i could (and lots of other people) could think of...
Image

I got the shits, pulled it apart and found this.... Also cracked in 3 places and scored the bore.
Cause - jet valve head. no 3 jet valve wasn't sealing. Oil getting into fuel mixture = fail. Thats what i've been told.. ?? (the sealing part)
Image

So now the game plan..

Hoping to be back on the road in about 3 weeks.

Aaaand just so you guys know i don't do something half assed.. A pic of my el camino in all its glory :D

Now has a dead auto.. I wonder why... rofl

Image

Few pictures of what i've been up to the past week. As well as the old fried clutch. Didn't like 2nd gear launches :(

New head as well as an AEM adjustable cam gear and some new arp studs
Ported intake and exhaust. Fresh everything. Double Valve Springs. Ralliart copy 35-70 70-35 cam. 3mm oversize exhaust valves.
Image

Piston/Bore clearance on no.3 is too far gone. Can't sleeve just 1 cylinder. Cost $800 to sleeve all 4. I could get a new block and just bore that out.. Or...

$685 - Wiseco – K571M86 – 86.00 bore – 8.8 comp ratio - suit 100mm stroke
$435 - Eagle – H Beam connecting rods - CRS5900MA3D – 5.900 Length

+ a 4g64 100m stroke crank from somewhere... ?? Don't feel like paying $900 for one.

This is getting expensive.. Haha

But i won't need water/meth to reach my 400rwhp+ goal. Which also saves $800 not including setup and extra tuning time..

The way i see it, i'm even?? Lol. + I could use the extra torque from the bigger stroke/bore.

New clutch also just arrived. Thanks to doug @ NPC. Re-drilled my flywheel to fit a skyline size clutch. 5 phuck brass button ceramic. Should be fun to drive.

Thanks. Should be more fun with around 400rwhp (goal)...

Re - low key. I think i might change this sometime towards the end of the year when funds rebuild themselves.. Thinking bosozoku style. Deep dish, bolt on flares, low, negative camber, etc etc

Probably overkill for 2.6 with webbers. But it cost me around $900 to my door. Not bad for the size/etc

Stupid work won't let me see the photos (photobuckets banned) but there at very nice sigma turbo I've seen on Southside and a Blue El camino crusing around as well. sounds too good to be a coinsidence.

Aha yeah.. That's me. Elk is the daily atm.

The sigma is beige with pws wheels, venetians and whitewalls.. Sleeper spec :D

Yeah its very nice def. sleeper.
First time i saw it, I went around the block to check it out again. make sure it was a sleeper and not a granny spec with tough wheels.
do you know if there is any other sigma/scorps etc. around here?

I'd been keen to go for a cruise (not lapping) when mine are up here?
who do you cruise with?:
ignitioncq.forum guys or one of the other cars clubs around
(the only other one I know meets at Redhill homemakers, can't remember the name though)

I think there's 1 or 2 around but i hang around with the turbo boys (www.boostcruising.com). Head over there go too offtopic and find the CQ thread. Good bunch of lads. IgnitionCQ is a bit weird... More motorbikes and stock commo's lol.

Yeh the redhill meet, not a car club. Myself and 2 mates started that about a year ago and it's grown heaps. Started off at coffe club with 5 of us haha. 1st sat of every month. It's moreso oldschool but everybody is welcome :D

Re pigma - yeah a lot of people double take haha. It's good to stay under the radar too, not many cops take notice. Although now thanks to my driving it's on video file @ the cop shop with the defect squad.. :(

Eh, just jump in lol. I could have rebuilt it cheaply to still make 300rwhp reliably. But i thought fuck it, while it's apart i may as well do it properly... :D

New parts today yay

Exhaust manifold back from Competition Coatings. Awesome job for $240 incl freight to CQ. Got it done in the highest temp black stuff. Coulda got shiny shit cheaper, but wouldn't stay shiny long and not as good with heat.

New ACL Race Series Copper 1.6m Headgasket. And full gasket kit.

And a gates timing belt set. Good ones.

Nice work there. I would hate to see the bills for this set up.

I think the only thing that would make this build up better would be if you were to go twin cam. But the fact that you already have the inlet and exhaust manifolds to suit the SOHC i can see why you would stick with this set up. And with the right head you can get pretty close to twin cam flows.

The DOHC 2.4L turbo engine is what i would intend on putting into the galant. It's the engine Mitsubishi should have made.

I thought about twincam also, but would have been a lot more work. I picked up the head pretty cheap, has about 3k worth of work and i payed 1k.. Practically new.
I'd also have to change intake manifold, exhaust manifold, dump pipe, ignition, etc etc. I'm confident i can get around 400rwhp on the SOHC with this turbo..

I added it up the other day. Around 5k seeing as i bought rods and a clutch when i didn't really need them.. Also a few other bits and pieces to make it look nicer :D

Helps i don't pay labour. Good having a dad who builds motors for a living :) Learn shitloads!

that will haul some serious ass!!

So after a few 2am lengthy phonecalls to Titan Motorsports in the USA i'm getting better CP Pistons on priority freight this week for no extra cost..

They forgot to mention that wisecos wouldn't be available until mid to late August.. I need to be built by then !!

Looking good mate.

I have Eagle Rods and CP pistons in my 4G54, the weight difference between a standard Mitsubishi piston and a CP piston is incredible.

Been doin a bit of fiddly shit.. Waiting on engine shop to finish boring and balancing.... Hopefully pick it all up tomorrow lunchtime and start grinding the block to clearance the crank.

Then put the bottom end together :D

Also got another set of shims put under the valvesprings so they meet the required specs for the cam. Had to make sure they wouldn't coil bind etc etc also. So should be all good for a 7500rpm limiter :) (normally could rev higher, but stroker changes things..)

Getting there... Should have motor ready to go into car by friday if everything goes to plan. Then its just all hook up and go.

Nothing fouled with the stroker, will just have to put washer under the oil squirters maybe..

Gapped the rings today to CP's specs and done a shitload of cleaning. Tomorrow should see the bottom end together fully and the head on :D
