I like the big chrome bumpers, just not the 76+ that have the ugly rubber corners. Small bumpers would be great, but like you said, the car carries them just fine! .

Scored a 2.0l carby from a friend that had a rebuilt one hiding in his shed (he had upgraded to a holley one). Had to clean it out as the ball and weight were stuck and thus not allowing fuel to squirt into the primary. Now starting, running, and driving perfectly!

Need to find out what alternators are compatible lol. Voltage regulator died so it's putting 16.6v to the battery.

Snagged a alternator off a 89 Starion (Ours are all G54B turbos), now to both fix and upgrade from the old one since the voltage regulator died.

Might be a little late but I think (don't hold me to this) that the one on my '63 out of a Hyundai Sonata was peetty similar to the stock one. Built in regulator too. Might be getting confused with the starter motor though, now they were definitely the same.

I have my VR4's old starter on the g52 . I don't have a g63 to try, if I get a chance to head back to the junkyard today, I'm going to see about snagging one off a 7G galant, because they are a 90amp on the 2.4s.

Finally some Galant badges - now it's legit

Put the surfboard that came with the car lol, to good use today! I don't know how to surf lol.

Did some wiring today, had to rewire the tails so that the amber corners functioned like AU/JDM/EU spec cars. US spec = top corners being that they were red, were parking lights/turn and brake lights as well with the middle light. My 77 was different and only the middle section was the brake light. Anyway, had to snip the constant 12v wire and then provide a new feed directly from the switch to the brake lights, which ironically disabled the top corners from lighting up too when the brake lights come on.

Now I have independent turn indicators and brake lights on the rear .

Nice. Will the local cops mind if the rear lights no longer function as per factory? Would be annoying if you got a defect for something that actually makes logical sense and is safer...

Nope! They wouldn't know the difference, he simply stated the ambers couldn't be "always on", which I had driven the 77 for 2yrs like that and no problem with cops. As long as the rear end has functional turn indicators/hazards (amber or red), brake lights/parking (position lights) I'm fine, I looked up the state traffic laws.

All the cops (local, State Patrol, County sheriff) in the general area were out doing DUI patrols, and this particular guy was just pulling anyone and everybody over. Roommate got pulled over, because his truck's canopy lacked a 3rd brake light , Pickups aren't required to have a 3rd brake light lol and older cars certainly weren't required to either.

I know you guys have some pretty strict modification laws out there compared to ours, especially when it comes to motor swaps vs we can swap whatever in and be good to go.

When doing a wideblock and KM132 swap, will the later slip yoke (bigger trans output shaft) fit onto the stock U-joint or will I need a new propeller shaft?

I know the trans mount shift back a bit as well.

Nah, your tail shaft will be fine, just need the front yoke swapped and then get it all balanced

Sweet! I found a g54b in a l200 at the local wreckers. Since my g52 flywheel will be incompatible to swap over, are all the wideblock flywheels the same? This particular truck was 4wd with the KM145 on it.

I think yes Tim, there are only two Astron clutches, 215mm and 225mm so I would assume these are narrow and wide?

Yes, 215 is my g52 and 225 is a wideblock. It may have been a stupid question, but most of the time people seem to pull their motors out of RWD vehicles not 4WD, so I wanted to be sure with the KM145 lol. Mitsubishi likes to do dumb changes sometimes lol.

Scored the g54b shortblock for $125 out of the wreckers, then come to find out after cleaning up the pistons and seeing some of the gaskets (rear main and valve cover are new, along with the rear freeze plug) it looks to have had a rebuild at one point. Pistons cleaned right up and no grooves in the cylinders.

BSE kit ordered, got new gaskets, and picked up a set of Dellorto 45s last night.
