Ok amgis_obrut,
do have one question. I know you did the conversion two pages ago but how did you go about the front brake conversion? Just slapped on XF rotors onto the sigma strut or replaced the strut all together? My engineer has stipulated going 5 stud and was interested on your experience here. I have been thinking using a complete different strut that way I push the stub out more too and can use the wheels from the donor vehicle....

will post em up once the engine comes back out, they're just modded off the shelf pacemakers not the best setup but will do for now I'll make some 4 into 1's later on

front struts are just run of the mill sigma not green or anything like that, my front brakes are 2 piece hub/disc XA falcon
the hubs were machined down 9mm where the discs bolts on to gain clearance for the bottom ball joint
wheel bearings are HQ-WB
Calipers are WB and the caliper mount is a modified CRS item that is used to mount HQ-WB calipers onto TE cortina
hopefully that makes sense as i have had a few tonight lol

well the headers are done, pretty scary looking would of been better if I started from scratch but they will do for now
cut down the crank pulley and got it back as far as possible now the engine is only an inch longer than an astron
engine mount / alt bracket is done, its a different way to go about things but it gives me room for headers and is a very strong way to mount an engine

Just doing the engine now should be finished on the weekend and ready to put back in
Ran the numbers to see what it came out of and suck me dry and call me dusty the engine its from a BA falcon ute !!!

astronturbo77 it was obviously a test mule for some V8 supercar program
Its apparent Ford are building BA's with diffs that were cast 20 years ago so it just makes perfect sense that they're powered by Cleveland

just used the factory mount and added a plate to it to catch the ford mount
The sigma mount is a bit beefier than the ford one and is held in place with 4 bolts rather than 2

didnt do anything to the engine when is was apart, except blend the valve bowls lap the valves and give it a good clean

Full marks for ingenuity and skill.
My experience with this sort of thing tells me that vibration can be a really difficult problem to sort, but if you can build it this far my bets would be on you finding a way to sort the vibes too

I think the only vibes i'll get are from the engine being mounted so firmly and I can live with that, it'll add to the experience

Yep, that looks great -IMHO the GH bars only look decent painted if done in a dark colour.

quick update
Haven't been going real hard with it over the past 2 weeks had to rebuild and fit 4.3 gears to a mates 9" and get the car ready for wsid on the 25th
But the siggy cranks over with the key now I could put a carb on it and start it but i want it 100% finished before i start it i'll get a vid of its first start, see if i can get it going on the first attempt (bets can be placed for some fun)
all the shifter, speedo cable, tail shaft, VK commo V8 3 core radiator, trans lines and cooler are in
holley blue pump and pressure reg are in
got a 4hp mini reduction starter, man this this is tiny and packs a big kick
90% of its done im still waiting on my davies craig 115 ewp and digi controller so i can wire in the fans and final ignition wiring, need to recalibrate the factory tach (should be fun but i'll work it out)
needs to be finished and rego'd by the end of aug
So far this build has been so easy (and very cost effective) with the surplus of parts i have sitting around, should make a fun street car for the missus
once its rego'd i'll make a molly 4 point roll cage (with 6 point provision) just in case i decide to bolt on a steroid injection kit

Hey just wondering if the motor is saying it was made for a BA ute, dosent it then have to meet the emissions of that year? In qld anyway a older motor has to meet regs of year of car, a newer motor has to meet regs of year of motor. Just asking as interested.

started first go but only ran for about 10 seconds as i didnt have an accelerator cable connected and the holley thats on it for now was straight out of the box
have a few leaks to fix, radiator has a small hole and its got a slight leak from the pressure reg and the lifters are noisy but i knew that they would be when i had the engine apart
