Sigma GK GSR daily
Re: Sigma GK GSR daily - project SC14
Maybe out of a diesel? I think old galants ran a brass mesh strainer. Time to do some site surfing! Bound to dig up something locally...

I think I read somewhere that the EFI filters will starve a carby engine of fuel due to the greater pressure required to push the fuel through it.
Don't quote me on that, but it might be an idea to get a low pressure electric fuel pump just in case

Is the car together enough to make it run? Get some fuel hose straight from the pump into a jerry can.
Old school Mitsu's, its not a hobby; it's a life style.
Re: Sigma GK GSR daily - project SC14
Aren't you already using an electric solid state pump? Thought I saw it installed low down next to the strut tower...
Re: Sigma GK GSR daily - project SC14
@webby - Yeah ur right, was running fine even with mech fuel pump before all the troubles arose though.
Also got an elec fuel pump and a regulator so should be right with the pressure right??
@ISKA8 - Hmm vacuum might be worth going over then, should be right though.
i shall get there
@geezer101 - Yes i am but, got a fuel regulator that i can adjust the psi with a valve, so ain't over pumping, but then again i haven't checked the pressure, was going to still might have to...

Might have made a comment about the front carby having a bung screwed in where the fuel outlet should be- if there was an outlet and hose to the tank return line shouldn't that eliminate or at least reduce over pressurisation? Was running a carter pump on my carby'd colt and didn't have any issues with over pressurisation...
Re: Sigma GK GSR daily - project SC14
Yeah there was, didnt end up doing that though..
The simpler the better if it works then no need for the regulator.

Simple works- the more stuff you add the more difficult it gets to diagnose problems. I prefer old school neanderthal tech, points, plugs and carbies. Mind you a EGO sensor in the exhaust and a jaycar EGO tester kit makes adjusting carbs a whole lot easier!
Re: Sigma GK GSR daily - project SC14
Yup to right, and cheers for the advice.
played round with the tank again today, fitted new lines, and ran a filter between the tank and the metal lines... until i source a new tank with working float etc...
Now waiting for my battery to charge then im going to run it without the metal filter and regulator and hook up the return line and see if that works better...
Still need to tune the carbs and set both of them the same...
^^ finally got out the ole hammer and bit of wood and fixed this up so i could bolt this back on looks better already...
once cars running... ill be getting that rear ding fixed among other bits of the body

Re: Sigma GK GSR daily - project SC14
It's coming together nicely. The twin carbs are nice and clean, so hoping they're already set up. Looks like you've got a decent exhaust too. Soooo close to getting it sorted- looking forward to the post where it's "turn the key and go!"

Re: Sigma GK GSR daily - project SC14
haha fine past past owner.
only body repairs needed doing are:
Drivers door (rust)
Rear end
and a bit of rust in the boot seal.
other then that been over it completely... all pretty neat and today i attacked the car with fish oil.
Also bought a new fuel pump, mounted it in the boot... Just gotta wire everything up now.
Also going to re-do engine wiring again, not happy with it... want everything neat and so i understand what everything is doing...
also going to mount some brake lights on the rear shelf... should look pretty sweet when i do it all, shall have it done tmoz.
also going to hide all wires in the tube stuff with the split in it, looks heaps tidier.
After its all back on the road, going to get the body straight and all rust cut.

You'd have to really twist my arm- got the full set up with new brass linkages port matched to a head. Wouldn't really be prepared to separate them...A112H wrote:Do these ornaments have a manifold?
