Looks good Dan
I'll have to come and have a look at it.
The original colour idea isn't a bad one, the Stellar Blue (I think that's the colour it is?) is a nice looking colour that doesn't scream I'm a hairdresser...
Just tell me you going to pop the motor out an spray the bay too?
Someone else was going to buy them then pulled out, so they're still here.
Dave...

Nice one Dan, looks like a great place to start. I am looking forward to watching this come together.
That little red Lancer looks ready for some serious dirt work

If that's the same LA rally car I think it is, that thing goes hard. Did he say if it had a LSD out of a Rav 4?

I think stick with the blue as a base colour as really stands out then do the stripes in the same colour to the bonnet.

Get me involved with it to help.DanTurboLancer wrote:Dave, no way am i spraying the engine bay!
After doing it with the 2 door, i am not going down that painful process again, or ill end up doing a full rebuild again lol.
Thats why im sticking with the same colour, so i dont have to change engine bay, door opening, inside etc
I did my engine bay in 1 week. From engine in and running to engine in and running.
I Hate it when cars look tidy as outside, pop the bonnet and it looks like crap.
It's sooo easy to do it properly, you'll regret it if you don't. I know I would.
Look at my hatch.

Re: LA Lancer 1976 4 door Build No.2- AKA sucker for punishment
Dan, I think taking into account your needs (quick tidy up for rego and then for use as a daily), I think I'd have to agree that the original Blue would be the way to go.
If you want to go with a black bonnet then do it, and as for the stripes, if I was putting them on I would run with the same stripes as the 4 door rally car (red over white) and as for a colour, possibly silver (same as the grill colour) or white? And paint the wheels the same silver as the grill. I don't think the wheels would look all that good painted black because they are small diameter. It one of the things though, work it out as you go along.
Of course you do realise putting a black bonnet and stripes on your car will attract unwanted attention?

That bracket looks similar to the one in one of my parts Scorps. Its an anti-theft device. It bolts to the side off the transmission tunnel (probably where the carpet has been cut) then has a 'U' shape bracket that goes around around the gear lever so you can't change gears. See here for pics.

Wiring looks to be connected to the light in the top of it - probably just one of those flashing one to make people think it has an alarm.

He was right on the money with it being an anti-theft gadget. The light is there just to warn you that it's active, looks like it's key activated too. You got the key to it?

Re: LA Lancer 1976 4 door Build No.2- AKA sucker for punishment
Are there any obvious dents or holes in the carpet in the foot well behind the brake pedal or the frame work under the steering column? I think it might actually be a brake pedal lock. There was some kind of shackle that pinned the brake pedal to the floor making it impossible to drive or move the car. You turned the key in it to disengage the shackle, and the pedal is released. Did you find any other random parts that seem to be out of place- maybe a thick metal "U" shaped thing with cut outs like a padlock?
