tubbys GN panel van project
Re: tubbys GN panel van project
good thinking mate, i reckon the mesh would work pretty well, especially if the edges are sealed... can't wait to see it all done and painted with nice rims etc... keep up the good work mate!
looking to start an mechanical apprenticeship, if you know of anyone in Melbourne or Gippsland who's looking for a first year, let me know!

I reakon that a set of XB-XC falcon Bonnet vents would be a better option. I have a set on my wagon almost on there and I personally think they are one of the best options. Especially for the style of vehicle you are building up there. Also the XB bonnet is pretty much the same width as the sigma bonnet. I can give you some pics of the bracing that we used to make everything legal. Just used the same bracing but cut some out from another sigma bonnet to support the scoops.

That's freaking awesome! Looks great. Have to agree, the bonnet thing is over the top, it's too big. I'd just leave it be tbh.
That mess of wiring was pretty out there.

Yeah I love the XB-XC bonnet vents they are sweet as, like I said I just had that laying around. Got a lot of stuff done today, should be painting by the end of the week.

Re: tubbys GN panel van project
This build looks brilliant! Can't wait to see how it progresses. This might inspire some more members to do similar, maybe a GE wagon conversion.....Keep the updates coming:thumpsup:

Re: tubbys GN panel van project
well I've held people in suspense long enough. here's the masking followed by the painting.

The purple is called Morpheous Purple, I figured I could upset holden puritans by whacking it on a sigma
the masked bits are white I will be putting on some black then I will be done.

Re: tubbys GN panel van project
I thought there might have been some air brushing or 80's graffix under the masking
Re: tubbys GN panel van project
I wanted to go crazy with the paint job but couldn't decide on what I wanted. I kept it pretty simple I will post pics up When I am done but with christmas looming won't get much done this week.

Re: tubbys GN panel van project
OK the black bits are done. not 100% happy with it but I will leave as is, at least for a year or so
. still not bad for the second car I ever painted with no training or tuition whatsoever.

Will take some daytime pics at some stage

It's a very bold statement you are making. There is no way this will go unnoticed on the street.
Just curious, what wheels are you planning on running on it? Wheels could make or break the look of this.

Re: tubbys GN panel van project
That's kinda what I am after I hope the paint job says "take your people movers your unnecessary four wheel drives in the city, your taxis and take your crap driving skills and piss off. I did a lot of work on this car and you WILL notice it and not hit it" kind of a pre-emptive strike as it were. as for wheels I was thinking old school like magnums or centerlines depending on what I can get a hold of preferably 14s' with balloon tires75wagon wrote:It's a very bold statement you are making. On that note, just for the record I hate SUV's. Hate is a strong word, but to me if you drive one, you have just said 'I give up'.tubby wrote:That's kinda what I am after I hope the paint job says "take your people movers your unnecessary four wheel drives in the city, your taxis and take your crap driving skills and piss off.
Good for youtubby wrote:I did a lot of work on this car and you WILL notice it and not hit it" kind of a pre-emptive strike as it were.

The look on people's faces when they almost hit my wagon, when they realise it's not just another Camry on the road. They plead for forgiveness. Mind you, the wagon has had a few close calls in it's time

Magnums, are they like the 'Dukes of Hazard' General Lee's wheels? Or are they like Kidney/Jelly bean wheels?tubby wrote:as for wheels I was thinking old school like magnums or centerlines depending on what I can get a hold of preferably 14s' with balloon tires
I know what Centreline's look like
Would you also go for the raised white lettering look on the sides of the tyres? Is that even still available?
