Skidmarks GN

Post by Skidmark »

G'day folks,
This is my 1985 GN. I bought it because after many years of commuting on a range of different motorbikes, this year I felt the winter and decided it was time to buy a cheap commute for the coldest and wettest of days. This is when my relationship with my $500 Siggie started, I wouldn’t call it love but I really like the old girl and now the bike rarely leaves the garage.
I’ve done a few things to her since we met, new lowered king springs all round, Monroe shocks at the front and pedders at the rear has her handling a bit better. Some nice shiny Pee-Pots with Perriles help a little there too. Also fitted a disc brake diff out of a gn Super Saloon.
The old girl has also proven to be cheap and reliable, driven every day on LPG, and even done a stint as the family car (with 3 kids) while we where in between our family transport (Tarago).
I say its not love, but our relationship is blossoming, I'm becoming obsessed and the wife’s suspicious about the time I spend in the shed so maybe I’m just in denial.

Some pics

When we first met

Full of the family, family of 5 was no problem, the wifes only complaint was no central locking,

And after some loven

Ah, soon to be a stunner...
The wheels make it. Is there any other wheel that makes a late model sigma look so good so easy?
Nice work Dan.

All it needs now is SG.com stickers...

Thanks guys for the comments.

Dean...Yeah mate , I do have some long term plans, the suspension/diff/wheels was stage 1. Stage 2 is next Feb when she comes off the road for rust removal. See ya at the cruise fore sure.

Dave....I got these P.Ps off Ebay for $360 bucks for a set of 5.Thay came with Perrelli tyres (50%),wheel nuts and a brace, thay where already polished but thay had been in a shed for a couple of years ,so needed a bit of a hand polish by me.Yes ,it most definatly needs some SG stickers, Pm sent.

Dan....Bitten hard by the bug ,but it feels so good ,I just cant stop.

Thanks again,
Skidmark(Dan)

try it with some tape first to see if you like it,
if you do like it then i can give you a quick run through
of how to do it with fibreglass,
should be able to make them so they clip on and off.....

Has anyone in the Newcastle area seen the customise sigma that is the same colour as Dan's (skidmark)?
It is executed really well the workmanship is awesome. But to look at, it's the most disgusting abomination I have ever seen. It's right up there in the style stakes as torana taillights on beetles.
When or if you see it, you'll know it. There is no confusing it with any other.

Now watch, now I've put this up here, he'll be our newest member tomorrow and read this.....

I don't care, it still looks like F'n sh_t!

Yeah, don't change it Dan. They look good the way they are.

Detail. It's all in the detail, clean lines, shiny paint and the pepperpots

Couple of new additions, scored a wheel of ebay for $30, but more importantly got my black plates on which I think looks better than bent and twisted yellow billboards they replaced.
