commodore brake conversion GD coupe

Post by astronturbo77 »

hi guys, i have been wondering aout doing a commodore brake conversion using gh sigma struts. a while back i was chatting to a bloke with a hemi pwrd sigma, He was saying that comodore VR/VS? disc rotors go onto sigma struts as the wheel bearings are the same and then you have to slot one hole in the caliper bracket for it to bolt on. I wish i could remember what model commodore he was talking about, it is the one with out the slip off disc rotors, either VN or VR. Can anyone help me with this is it correst or not? I can get VS discs and calipers for nothing but im unsure if the discs have the wheel bearing as part of them or not? and are they single piston calipers?

VT commy calipers are dual piston, is there any way of using these with VS discs?

havnt seen it done but the vs rotors dont have a wheelbearing its seperate and vt calipers cant be used with vs rotors as they are too thin but vt rotors go onto vs hubs.most of the early rotors are the same except for bt1 and some vp-vr's

Hi there. I have a GE Sigma/Galant which came with 13" rims and those piddly square pads and single spot calipers. I ripped the struts (discs, calipers, stub axles, bearings attached) out of a GH and swapped them straight in. It moves me up to those C shaped pads of the early Commodores. Hope that's useful.

Isn't it obvious? If your using commo brakes/studs you would need the GM rims anyway.

I'd rather put drums on the front of my car than run big discs. Wheels bigger than 14"s is just showing off, and ugly.
