Starion Rotors on Pajero diff - adapterplates, anyone want?

Post by Rallyant »

Im putting some Starion vented rotors and calipers on my Pajero diff. (to use in my GC Galant) I have drawn up the brackets and am having a pair made for me.
Just checking to see if anyone else is interested in this conversion? Ill get a few made up in one hit?

Have a look at the 280mm vented rotor off a saab 900 16v turbo.
All the bolt holes line up perfectly.
Fits straight onto the Jap diff but you will need a 15mm spacer BEHIND the rotor, and possibly longer studs.

Cheers.

hmm, I might have to look at that.
The Pajero diff is a 6 stud, so that needs a mod anyway.and no need for 16mm spacers if i am making a custom caliper bracket.
The starion caliper needs 20mm to get it out to the right spot on the pajero diff

the other reason im using the starion stuff is
1. i have it laying around and
2. the hand brake setup is easy, all part of the caliper.

but i might try and find another rotor on the DBA dogalog with more offset, so i can just cut a 10mm flat plate adapter, or there abouts.

Here are a few pics of the Starion and Saab rotors, side by side.
As I said before, all the bolt holes are exactly the same, the only difference is the center hole on the Saab is 86mm but the Starion one is 90mm.
With a spacer, it wouldn't matter, you would just make it hub centric rather than machining the rotor.

The Saab rotor has a 70mm offset as opposed to the Starion's 47.5mm.
There is a fair bit of room before the Starion rotor would foul on the mounting bracket but if you were fabricating up the diff, this wouldn't be a problem.

Having a larger offset would help if you are wanting to use smaller wheels. I would guess that 15" rims would easily clear and maybe some 14" rims as well.

Cheers.
