I have a collection of 4sp boxes at the moment but most have been out of action for quite a long time so I decided to put the 4sp that was running in the car originally back in knowing that it worked well with the exception of being a bit sticky in and out of 2nd gear.
I'm 99.9% positive I'm trying to put the right stick back in (i have a 5sp stick lying around somewhere) it but I cant get it in (story of my life
)With a brand new nylon cap on the end, I line it up with the... uhh, thing that the end of the stick goes into and them bolt it in place. But here's the weird thing, I can get what feels like 1st and 2nd and then in place of where 3rd and 4th should be theres a whole lot of nothing. The stick just flops about. And I cant get reverse either.
I havent tried "turning" the gearbox from the tailshaft yet (i've got a stump of an old tailshaft still in there from installing the box) but I'm not sure that it'll help.
Any ideas?
