Shop next door got one of these in for a wheel alignment yesterday, so i had a squiz, as you do..
Not sure if u guys know much about these things, thought i'd post this up..
They have a sohc 16V 4G69 motor, and it's a wideblock..
and the gearbox is a Toyota Hilux copy.. which is a W54..
which is a close relative of the Supra W58!
so, now we have another source for Supra gearbox conversion bellhousings!
pics:
shame they're not narrowblock though! would have been handy for dohc 63 conversions..

Old news, but good news. Also good to see some pics of it. Just have to find where we can get the bellhousings without having to buy the whole car.

If they can be got at a good price, I might build wide block engine for my Sigma, and use a W58 instead of the narrow + jap 5sp I was going to use.

Is the gearbox any good, or would it be better with a standard RWD W58? Do you know how much postage for it is? is the bell hosing available separately?

as noone has been able to buy one as yet (not thur a lack of trying either) it is all speculation at this point!
none of us know fore sure if thay fit (the bellhousing pattern ) and if the china sytle g/box is made of glass or not!
so until someone can actually get one ,who knows
as amgis has written he did post a link ,see if you can get anything from it but dont hold your breath!
and the other option is to go to a great wall dealer ,there even less helpful
it sucks when you have the cash to spend but thay dont want it

The inlet manifold looks pretty similar to a L300/Starwagon. Wonder if these would be suitable for SOHC 4G63 MPi conversions??

so now i have spoken to a few people around and have been told that the great wall engines are different bellhousing pattern to 4g63 ,after much disscusion we worked out that the greatwall 64 engine has the same bellhousing as the later evo4-9 and are different to evo1-3 ,astron narrow
so there you go boys thay dont fit astrons !!!

Just so you guys know.

did a gas conversion on 1 of these during the week, its a 4g69 same as lancer 2.4 minus the mivec and its the wrong bolt pattern, is wider up left side 4 an extra bolt hole.

That might rule out using the bell housing on a 4G54 or 4G63, but it could be a way to use a 4G69 from a Great Wall, and convert it to mivec. It is just a matter of time till someone wrecks a V240, and the engine + trans could be had cheaply.

i wouldnt bother with the 4g69mivec the heads are soft and there isnt enough area between cylenders so they do headgaskets when given a hard time. not an impressivly powerful engine anyway for its size.
