hey guys,
i lost the bolts i took out of my tailshaft ages ago and just used regular ones and im pretty sure theyre stretched now,
i was gunna get some high tensile bolts but dont quite know what to ask for, my understanding of bolts is that i used a
12mm spanner to get em off
so whats the manliest bolt i can use without drilling the holes bigger?

Re: tailshaft bolts
If you just ask for high tensile bolts and nuts then you would be fine. The there are different grades of high tensile bolts but I'm pretty sure there is only one two different grades of nuts, high tensile metric grade 8.8 and standard nuts. Also you need to measure the size of the holes which you are putting them into and get the associated bolt size, so say if you have a 8.5mm hole then go for a M8 bolt. Also ask for a fine thread over a course thread if they have it as you can apply more force to a fine thread then a course one.

Re: tailshaft bolts
youll want to get the right bolts, high tensile with the correct shank.
best bet would be get a set from a wrecker.
youll end up in the shit if your tailshaft drops out while driving

+1 with Billsy.

Old school Mitsu's, its not a hobby; it's a life style.
Re: tailshaft bolts
not many sigmas at wreckers in tassie, youd have to get the proper bolts new from somewhere?
can someone tell me how long they are, what thread and how long the shank is? im sure nubco
will have what i need... also i believe the tailshaft flange is hubcentric, the bolts dont actually locate it
