I built that a couple years ago, it only requires a different throw out bearing holder ( supplied)

The R 154 got harder to find here and more expensive so then I went back and developed the R 150 and R 151 , that gives you a more choices

Was your car originally manual or auto? You might fit in an auto tunnel with the aid of a 2lb hammer and a lot of swearing, not a ghost of a chance in a manual tunnel. The R154 is a pretty sizeable gearbox.

ive seen a r154 in person, its a very large box... would need the floor cutting out and welding in a bigger tunnel. Why are you looking to use a supra box? a g63 will easily put the power through a w58/ or a rx7 turbo box, which is what the starion race guys use, when they are over 200rwkw

Problem with the RX7 'box is that the B2600 bellhousing the Starion guys use is a wideblock pattern, so you'd need an adapter to a narrow Borgy bellhousing or a complete custom bell to make it work with a VR4/Evo motor. Other than that, from talking to people that've used both I'd go RX7 box over a W-series as they're (slightly) stronger and shift better at high revs.

My engine is a vr4 4g63t which i had in my gsr lancer and had 550 hp to all four wheels. Ran a 10.7 @ 139miles at wsid. Whats the best and strongest gearbox for street use then for my gd galant. And it is currently auto..

What do you intend on using the car for?

Are we talking straight lines or corners?
General rule of thumb (IMO) is you want an auto for drags, manual for everything else.
IMO your best bet on the manual front would be an FC3S RX7 'box or a W58 Supra 'box. Or if you feel like fabricating a new tunnel, go R154.
DO NOT go anywhere near a Celica 'box (W50-W55) as with the power you've said you're pushing it'll snap like a twig.

W58 will last if you baby it. A stockish 1UZFE (~340hp at the fly) will break one fairly quickly if you give it a thrashing, so your motor wouldn't have much trouble breaking one.
Go auto man. You won't find many manuals that will last at that power level AND fit in the Galant tunnel. 904TF (auto Scorpion 'box) bolts straight up and can be beefed up sufficiently enough to take everything you can throw at it (it's basically a mini 727).

Check out 77/78 scorpions. Used one in the first GD wagon I built. They're outrageously strong. As for price, don't know... also don't know how you're going to set up the kick down linkage from the trans to the throttle. Add a B & M megashifter to frighten passengers!

All auto Scorpions used the 904. No, it won't handle 550hp stock, it'll need work.
