i got a galant locker in mine
never broken anything yet, and believe me it has been punished over the years.
for what they are they are quite tuff
i am having a commy borgwarner cut down for it tho. i imagine they are the same as the ford unit.
i decided that way due to the number of different ratios around for them, and the fact you can buy parts for them
the factory lsd is a piece of shit, so a mini spool is in order
another reason i went the commy option was for massive brake upgrade - HSV items are a bolt on
and lets face it, the car can never be "over braked"
its a bit of stuffing about to make it fit - for one its coil spring, so it needs leaf saddles made and welded on, needs a few mm chopped out of it, therefore so do the axles - its around a $1000 bolt in conversion
Galantman runs a nissan C200 diff in his galant. almost a bolt in swap... ALMOST. its a little bit wider than galant diff, but dont need any shortening to fit. Big rear brakes, massive axles in it, but limited to uncool ratios.
it comes down to how much u wanna spend, and what you want the upgrade for.
anything can be made fit with a grinder and a welder
