Hi guys,

Although i've had a few sigmas over time (the lastest version a green GJ wagon with a GJ Scorpion front-end fabricated on the front of it) I am only a very new member.

I am currently in the process of getting the money together to get another wagon and graft on the scorpion front end again.

In terms of power i'm planning on using a stroked up Astron II N/A running twin exhausts (again, getting moved on from my old wagon).

I've heard that...although rare...there is an intake manifold that bolts onto the A2 motor with twin mikuni solex carbies....is this true??
Are the solex carbies used for this manifold the standard carbies used on the Sigma's, Magna's etc????

If not, is there a LYNX or REDLINE manifold to adapt twin downdarught webers??

Any help on this will be greatly appreciated

This is how they look (these are mounted to a 2 litre head from a scorpion)-

They are manually choked and only the first carby is fitted with a fuel cut solenoid and a secondary vacuum actuator...

geezer thats pretty much the 'look' im after.

They appear to be just a pair of standard Sigma carbies.....are they??

If that's so, i'll simply bolt on a pair of TR/S magna carbies as they identical to the Sigma's with the exception of having bigger venturies. (so i've been told)

Are these manifolds rare??
are there any aftermarket versions???

Can't say I've ever seen these manifolds to suit an astron 2 head.

Although it wouldn't take much to weld the mounts on.

as far as manifolds go.....whats the difference.....i thought it was just the fuel pump going from mechanical to electric...which i was going to change anyway


Can't you still port and polish the heat and manifold to suit each other anyway??

They are close, but not quite.
There are minor differences.

There are adapter plates to bolt down draught webers to Sigma manifolds. You would be able to bolt a pair of webers to one of these manifolds. The hard part would be getting the throttle linkages set up so the would work together. And then tuning them to suit.

There's a big difference between the Magna and the carbies used on twin downdrafts. The Magna carbies are a "feedback" carby with a throttle position sensor and 2 electrically triggered control solenoids with a wax pellet type choke. I haven't been able to find a decent pic of a Magna carby but I'd bet it has a plastic resin body as opposed to die cast alloy body as used in the Sigma carby.

the twin carb factory manifolds are for astron 1 only.

So you cant adapt this manifold without some welding if you ever wanted to put a magna head on your 4g54?

A while ago I saw a flange adapter from Astron I to II.

Wouldn't be too hard to make yourself if push came to shove.
The top bolt holes and ports are the same, and the bottom bolt holes don't interfere with each other or the manifold.

Only other thing is the rear water port.

I see. The only reason why I asked if that I might be buying another sigma and I already have a set of these twin carbies, so out popped the idea of a hi flow ported magna head using these carbies. But realistically, probably not worth the effort. If I was going to invest in hi flowing a head, I might aswell buy a set of twin webers or dellortos, or even your quad carby set up!
