hey guys,
just wondering if anyone could tell me how hard replacing this gasket is on a 4g54? bit of smoke has been coming from what i thought was the back of the engine, just assumed the rocker cover gasket was leaking and oil was burning up, but after replacing that there was still some smoke so i had a much closer look and im starting to think its something to do with the exhaust manifold at the cylinder closest to the firewall, gasket looks rusty almost so guessing its probably just in need of replacing.
so yeah, easy job? or worth calling a mechanic mate over for a cash job? ive got a gregorys manual and another pdf file that lists how to do it so i could probably have a crack at it, just wanna know what i'd be getting myself into haha
cheers for any suggestions!

Re: exhaust manifold gasket
If it is a straight forward gasket swap it should take you no more than 20 minutes, a bit longer if you decide to do the flange gasket too.
Read through your manual and it will give you a good idea what to do.
Make sure you soak the nuts in rost off or wd40 about 10 minutes before you start as the heat can rust those nuts on pretty good. Also make sure the engine is totally cold too

im 18, i never did one before, followed to book pretty much to the letter, took me no longer then 30 minutes, its not overly hard, but make sure u get some gasket sealant and use that to for a better seal
