Camshaft decision time
Going with RPW as they still have Billet Cams.

I have no idea on cams, so to give you an idea. Want to have a go at the local hill climb, and an odd track/drag day - Its street driven once or twice a week.
Of course my eyes went straight to there stage 4 turbo cam, but after reading http://www.rpw.com.au/shop/index.php?op ... &Itemid=51 was thinking the stage 3 - Dude at rpw recommends the stage 2. but he may have done what they recommend - go with a lower stage cam to what you think you need (as I had already done).
I dont what to get to crazy for the street, yet still don't want it so mild that it was a waste of $$$. Would like to keep the idle 1000 rpm or under. A custom cam is only $55 more so keep that in mind too.
Whats the stock cam anyway - M7 head if theres any difference.
The engine is an efi 2.4L, JE 2.6 pistons, 2L crank and stock prepped rods. Old head only had stock size stainless valves.
So feedback on cam selection please.

go to waggot cams and get a custom grind to suit YOU. i have had numerous cams done by them and am extremly happy with all of them! very very reasonable pricing too. Ring them and ask for peter waggott, very switched on.

If You put a ITB you can put a big Cam with smooth idle.
I Have a similar to Stage 5 with twin 40's Carb, and the idle is smooth and i use to go to work every day

Will give waggot a ring this arvo - but will depend if thay have Billets.
That cam of yours Xaser is well behaved considering rpw class it as a race cam only - sounds good too.

A wild cam on a mild engine won't work well and vice-versa.
It would be best to give the engine specs to who ever is going to grind your cam and get their opinion and reasons for using it.

Waggot is out, can't get Billets.

Man, that's very low compression! Did you do that on purpose or does that how the 2.4 ends up?
What head gasket have you got?

yes - higer rev's + boost - but a true 2.4 is around 6.5 (my pistons are 1mm taller). The plan was to shave the head to get it to 7to1 or higher, never did but runs ok as is.
noidea what gasket now - but the arp's help.
w58 + bw78 diff - 60-1 turbo i think ( ask fred ).
Anyway, RPW finally sent the invoice - Stage 2 paid for - Wish me luck.

I got a new billet of waggotts about 2 years ago with springs to suit delivered for 270 (from memory)
Shame they don't have any more.
They just used magna billets and cut the ends off.
And they are great to deal with.

yes - hydro/roller - May go swivel rocker adjusters (Elephant feet) with rollers if the hydraulic lifters can't take it.
RPW do the non roller cam for $265 - What the difference is for the same thing I well never know - Just a different grind but Im only guess'n.
Camtech around the same price as waggotts but a regrind.

You are going to have to get that compression ratio up somehow. It will be laggy and then just crack into wheelspin, its fun but not fast.
Its not a copper gasket is it?
60-1 is what I have on mine. They are perfect I reckon and so is a stage 2 cam. I had a big cam in mine, it was useless. Ran 30psi on race fuel and it made 290. Upped the comp and went to a smaller cam. made 390 on 30psi.

Going on a stock M7 head at 70cc ish - All depends on what I could get the head shaved down to - But yes, it is fun.
If the head was 60cc or 55cc - Would me around 7.5 or 8 to 1.
Will see if i can get the head cc'ed and go from there - he wont be doing anything with it now till the cam comes anyway.
Not used the copper gasket since going 2.4 - No need to now.
