4G54 Engine Identification

Hi Guys,
Had a quick look at the Ultimate Topic Directory and the post "How to Read a Serial on an Astron Block".
I've got M531R12345 stamped on my block, so it looks like it is:
5 = 2.6l
3 = Silent Shaft North South
1 = Auto
R = Year of manufacture (ab '83-'84)
12345 = Serial No. (not actual)
From the other Ultimate Topic, "Wide or Narrow (Motor or gearbox)?" I found the comment that, "Out of the Mitsubishi factory auto is narrow".
Given that this engine is mated to a 5-speed out of a (GB?) Galant, does the 3rd number in the code designating Auto simply mean it is a narrow block?
Thanks.
