EFI converted people: Surge Tanks

Post by IncorpoRatedX »

So, I've currently got a 73 galant wagon that i've fitted a turbo 4G63 into, running an inline fuel pump mounted low in the engine bay. I never let the car get under half tank for the fear of fuel starvation, haven't had it happen, but don't want to deal with it.

those of you that have converted to EFI, what are you using for a surge tank, if you are at all?

I found one of these on ebay, thinking about grabbing it.

Appreciate the input!

That would do the trick, I am running a similar one just with threaded fittings not barbs

This is what I was thinking if using as a surge tank.

With my EFI setup, I am running no surge tank. When I get to around 15L left in the tank, and take the corner quickly, it starves a bit. But for the most part, it is not needed.

Am I correct in seeing that none of you are running lift pumps?

The little gold box in my and turbogj260's boot are the facet/lift pumps. Low pressure high volume pump to feed the surge tank, from there were are using high pressure efi pumps to feed the engine. Mine are a Bosch 910 and a Solid State facet.
I am sure TUFSIG is using the same or very similar set up.

In my setup, I am running a Bosch 050 pump behind the rear wheel arch as low as I could mount it. If I keep the tank above 15L, it runs well. For a force induction setup, I would put in a surge tank.
