Swap a 4G63 with 4G32 into 4X4 L200

I thought I'd make a new thread as the topic has now deviated a bit from identifying a motor.

What I'm wanting to know now is would I have any trouble dropping a 4G32 from a spare L200 into my 4X4 L200 that previously had a 4G63 in there? I'm hoping to do the swap ASAP to get the ute on the road while I try and rebuild the 4G63 that came with the L200 in peices.

I'm worried about the motor mating up with the current gearbox in the 4X4.

After a bit of reading and searching I came across this link: Wide or Narrow (Motor or gearbox)? viewtopic.php?f=31&t=6424
Which stated: "All Saturn 4G30 (1300), 4G33 (1400), 4G31 (1500), 4G32 (1600), 4G35 (1750) motors are narrow block."

It went on to state: "Sirius 4G63 (2000) are both wide and narrow. Out of the Mitsubishi factory front drive is narrow (includes Evos), rear drive is wide."
Considering the 4G63 that came with the 4X4 L200 (in pieces on the flat tray) would it be a rear wheel or FWD when 4WD isn't engaged?

I hope someone can help me! I don't want to drop a motor and then go to install it and find out that it's not gonna match up!

If the 63 is out of the car, measure it for wide or narrow.
I suspect it would be a wide block same as Starion and 2wd L200's. Your 32 will be narrow block.

The 32 is currently in an 2WD L200, so I was hoping it would be a straight swap. If the 63 is a wide block my only option would be to rebuild the 63 I guess? Not worth the hassle trying to get a 32 in there huh?

Nah too hard.
I would be looking around for a wide block 54 if I was you. You should be able to get a good runner for the price of the parts to rebuild a 63.

According to the previous owner (as I just bought this ute the other day) "Its currently stripped down and has been honed, just needs rings and bearings." I think it also needs a rocker cover as I couldn't find it amongst the pieces....

There's an Hyundai Sonata GLE 16V 1993 for cheap locally. They use a 4G63 motor I think? I'm guessing it's fuel injected, would this be an issue? Was told it's twin cam....Can I just chuck on the carby etc from my own 4G63 motor? Or would I have to install the Sonatas computer etc?

Pretty sure the Hyundai's are narrow block mate. But yes they are twin cam, basically a non-turbo Evo engine, same as was fitted to HJ Galants.

What model cars should I be on the look out for a suitable motor? Early Pajero's? L300 Express vans? Anything else I should consider?

In stock Sigma's, auto is narrow, manual is wide. Don't assume this is correct today, due to the age and k's our cars have covered there is a fair chance the engine, box or both have been changed at some time.
Narrow or Wide the blocks are identical, they just have two holes drilled closer together. You can tell the difference when they are still in the car with the gearbox attached. It is a little hard to explain in text so I will get a pick for you tomorrow, unless someone else has one handy?

Its a bit of a nightmare as I bought the ute hoping to get it on the road straight away with the engine from my other ute.. now I'm back to square one!

I found a 4G63 motor for cheap not too far away.I've also had a few offers of 4G54's from some wreckers a bit dear though... Is there any reason not to go a 4G63 over a 4G54? Which motor is better?
