ive got a triton with 4g54, all of a sudden has started to cut out unless ive got my foot on the accelerator, first happened when i was slowing to an intersection and my foot was on the clutch and i watched the revs drop off till it stalled. so now it just cuts out unless being revved!
i pulled out the fuel filter and checked and thats fine only a month old, so is this an issue with the fuel pump or carby?? any help would be appreciated cause im stumped at the moment!!
4g54 fuel issues???
Re: 4g54 fuel issues???
Sounds like Fuel pump to me...mine had a similar problem where it would only work with certain revs/not full throttle
It would coff, splutter and almost die
turned out there was a hole in the diaphragm in the fuel pump.

Re: 4g54 fuel issues???
just do your basic checks..
air
spark
fuel
im just guessing but if it was your pump it shouldnt mater if you had your foot on accelerator or not.. if it cant keep up flow at idle how can it keep flow when you want more rpm?
check idle jets
check points
air filter
fuel filter
spark plugs

Re: 4g54 fuel issues???
i got it goin again, i took the dizzy off and cleaned that up and also noticed my mixture screw had come out cause i found it stuck in some grease near the gearbox! that has me worried if it worked its way out! once i put everything back together it was ok, the carby needs to be tuned tho its a bit rough.
thanks for the help though guys.

Re: 4g54 fuel issues???
Unusual for the idle screw to fall out - does it have a little coil spring under it? this usually keeps tension on the thread so it stays in place
