Timing covers

Post by ratl200 »

im collecting parts for my magna conversion.
i pulled a timing cover off a 2.0 auto astron sigma at the wreckers today. will this fit the magna. from what i could tell by looking at the 2 at the wreckers they looked the same but didnt have a tape meaure or good access to the magna motor. please dont tell me to search as ive trawled these forums and cant find a difinitive answer.
is the 2.0 the same height as the 2.6.
yes or no is all i need

No.
The Magna timing cover is a little different to the RWD one.

It's a relatively minor mod required to get a RWD timing cover to fit a FWD block, just a bit of welding and hole tapping .

in all the threads ive read there is no mention of welding or tapping. they all say welsh plug in the rear of motor to block water gallery. mount rwd timing cover and water pump on the front.

the main concern i have is have i got the right cover for the conversion? will the cover i have suit my needs or will it be to short

the blocks are different widths... you cant fit a fwd sump on a rwd block either....

mabye you want a rwd astron 2 timing cover off a GN?

or tritons and pajeros com with rwd astron 2's too i think
"launching missiles? who do they think i am? iraq? where would i get a missile from?" "that means rocks too dumbaass" "oh"

Find a Astron 2 RWD cover. Simple - no welds or anything.
The Astron 1 stuff won't fit.
