Are aftermarket swaybars available?
Hi Guys, I have had a quick search around on the net for stiffer front swaybar for my lb sedan but haven't found one, are they available or is it a custom job?
Cheers

Hey SIR, Whiteline do a couple of Millimeter thicker sway bar.
I have one on my LA, I brought it afew years back.
Im not sure of other brands, but atleast you can get them.
I had a mate working for a suspension workshop, he ordered it in for me.

The other option is to twin mount a pair of sway bars.

What size is the sedan bars? the one on my hatch is 23mm, but i don't think that is standard, I made it adjustable too, bought a rear white-line bar a while ago but that is not much good unless u want to do some drifting.

Grab a stock one from a wrecker & check ?krohny wrote:do sigma swaybars fit in a lancer?

Note ... you do NOT want a stiffer swaybar in the front of the rally car ! All you will most likely do is make it understeer .... you want plenty of compliance in the front end to keep the tyres on the ground & maximise steering grip.
Re: Are aftermarket swaybars available?
your just a world of information for me!

Re: Are aftermarket swaybars available?
You just need to remember you aren't building a tarmac race car ..... it's easy to go too stiff in the suspension for forest rally use. You want compliance (to soak up the bumps & keep the tyres on the ground), but with good damping (on both compression & rebound).
Re: Are aftermarket swaybars available?
I ended up ordering a front and rear bar through Pedders, I am pretty sure they they get them though mako but pedders worked out around the same money and without the need to worry about postage.
I think it is a 24mm front and 18mm rear kit. Not to sure on the need for a rear and how it would behave but thought I might give it a shot then disconnect it and see what it does.

@Davetrees is there any point in putting rear sway bars in a rally car???
Ive got a LC with the stock front sway bar and was looking at a rear one but wasnt sure if it would be the right setup for forrest.
Cheers Matt

Re: Are aftermarket swaybars available?
I purchased a front and rear bar from k-mac a few years back. The front was an add-on bar and made the car too stiff for my liking, the rear was never fitted as the fuel system got in the way.
Matt, general rule of thumb is you won't want a rear sway bar on the dirt. However, you can get fancy and make a rear sway bar work like a two link system to control axle tramp if it's a problem.

Re: Are aftermarket swaybars available?
Depends on the individual car & driving style. Most people don't run rear bars though, in my experience.Rally_2.6LC wrote:@Davetrees is there any point in putting rear sway bars in a rally car???

Only way to tell is to try it with & without over the same piece of road and see what it does to your times.
Re: Are aftermarket swaybars available?
That's the one. It's a bit big for auspost so I don't have a way of getting it to you.astronturbo77 wrote:is this the one that in your pics bolts up to the castor bars? interested in selling?
