So i've been reading bits here and there about these "green struts" from a GH sigma. I haven't been able to find any real concrete sort of answers.

Maybe if we get some concrete facts about these struts going into galant this thread could be stickied or something?

Anyway, I want better brakes on my galant (GB) and sigma's have better brakes, so are these struts going to fit and clear everything? (i read something about the sigma spings hitting the shock tower at full lock?) i also read something about there being 1 degree of negative camber if their used.

I did a search..and i only got snippets here and there and nothing really confirmed anything to me.

So if we could possibly just make one thread that has the answer...it would be a big help.

Any pair of struts from a GH sigma/scorp will be a good upgrade for a galant.
The green struts are sought after if you plan on taking it a step further, as the caliper mount is a bit different, and makes swapping rotors to a larger size a heck of a lot easier.
I'm running standard GH struts (just the normal black ones...) in my GD, its a huge leap forward from the go-kart spec brakes they come with!

Yes you do gain negative camber, not sure how much, as i put king springs in when the struts went in, lowering it gives you more also as it makes the lower control arm come up to be more horizontal. either way, negative camber is good lol.

As for clearance issues? not too sure as i have never played with a GB, but can't say I've heard any thing like that before? & seeing as after market wise (king springs for example) list the same spring from GA to GD and also for the GE/GH sigma & scorp, can't really see how you would get an issue like that???

I put GH Scorpion black struts in my GA. Black ones dont have removable caliper brackets, green ones do.
I used Lovells Low springs and have a little more negative camber than I'd like. This is because the stub axle on the Scorp struts points up more than on the GA (or GB) one. The exact angles are posted here somewhere.
To put GH struts in a GB its the same as for a GA.
You can use your original GB springs in the GH struts if you like but most folk go for King Lows. Original GH springs will sit your car 1.5 inches too high. Dont cut or reset your coil springs.
You will also need the GH steering arms. The GB ones will foul the calipers. Ive posted pics of this somewhere here too.

I see no reason the springs should hit your strut towers as they do have all the same diameter springs except the Sigma strut might have a different offset and have the spring not central.
Your best bet is to go for GH springs and get the sleeved as coil overs. That way not only can you adjust ride height but up the spring load and they will run 60mm springs so if there was going to be clearance issues this would fix them.
If you want to go 5 stud give Hoppers Stoppers a call, they have a Series III AU XR8 disc and caliper set up for GH struts, they are not cheap but you will stand the GA on it's nose with these brakes. This is the set up I will be using.

I find WAY more "green leg" , struts with the removable caliper bracket in BLACK, than i do green ones! Infact i cant remember the last time i saw green ones.
people say they all started out green, but im not sure that's tru? I don't see them discoloring or 90+% of people repainting them?
I think its more likely that the fact that ALL green legs have the removable bracket, but not all the black ones do, has led to the misunderstanding?
Dont worry about the colour, just check any GH you see and check if the caliper has a bracket or it bolts straight to the casting.

IF your not going to do the take it a step further thing then the "green legs" are not nessacery
BUT if you want to take it that step further with caliper/rotor upgrade, then stick with the galant struts! they have a removable caliper braket just like the "greenlegs"
But with the advantave of been a lot lighter due to having smaller diameter tubes, smaller stub axles and smaller hubs. (well and truly large enough still)
Id go so far as using Galant struts in a Sigma If i was setting up a track sigma! Would be a good 5kg decrease in the unsprung weight each side im guessing.
I have both a set of "greenlegs" and Galant struts I pulled out to do a coil over conversion to, Ill get some pics and post weigh diferances when i get the chance.
The smaller diameter Galant struts are easyer to get the "cheap" coil over hardware off ebay for, I got a kit for a honda of some kind (will check again if anyone would like) for $150, that provides enough parts for 2 conversions too I then got some Koni Race series Double adjustable shocks off summit racing (about half the price as getting them here) Now im just working out exactly where i want to cut the struts and how much i want to space the shocks up.
The strut tops and springs are the same diameter as the galant so clearance is fine

Mine are green, I have an idea they might have been painted since being new, lol
