I know you want to do a doors closed spray job Dean. But, I'm going to put a vote in for silver, with the sportspack stripe in Charcoal. The red interior would look awesome with it, and silver on a retro car just looks so fresh and clean. Personally, I don't think a Datsun 1600 looks as good in any other colour. So I think a GD in silver with a good quality sparay job would look awesome....

Re: what i might be getting my galant painted
it will be a proper paint job!, just not interior or engine bay done.
it will be getting the underside of bonnet and boot done and taking out the front and rear glass....
if i did a full interior etc job it would be off the road for too long....
plus its good rust wise, just a little surface shit, but it will all be checked anyway...
it mainly getting it straight and taking out the little kocks and what not

I have every confidence that you will get a good job. You rate this bloke you're getting to do it very highly.
Just a shame to stick with the white, but I understand. Needs to match the engine bay.
How would the cherry cola (it's pearl isn't it over base coat?) go with your interior? I'm just trying to picture it....

Just a thought Dean.
Why not get the rims you want, and get the colour matched and put that in the stripe.

i wanted to stick with white, it is simple and clean and what the car came from the factory like...75wagon wrote: Just a shame to stick with the white, but I understand. Needs to match the engine bay.
if i was building a more "modified" car (eg an all out show car) it would be going for a silver or fully cherry cola
but i want it to stay under the radar but be super smooth so people say
"wow, thats a mint loooking galant" rather than
"look at the colour of that thing (and people not knowing what the car even is"....
understated is what i'm going for, dont want any problems from the boys in blue
(like Dan has had lately)
in the full sun the strip will look a deep red and he is going to get it to match the interior a fair bit75wagon wrote: How would the cherry cola (it's pearl isn't it over base coat?) go with your interior? I'm just trying to picture it....
so it will blend in. am also getting some R32 GTR seats this weekend sothey will be trimmed to match as well....

You said you were looking at new rims. Just suggesting, whatever colour they are, maybe you should match the strip to them.77galantv6 wrote:75wagon wrote:

Re: what i might be getting my galant painted
Hi Dean, I think that would look awsome mate. I was only thinking on the way back from Wisemans Ferry, between the bends, that the GD lines look so clean in white. Also, there is no easier colour to keep clean and repair than white.
Re: what i might be getting my galant painted
I'm surprised you had time to look at the lines galantgrunt... We were moving along quite briskly. How did you go with the Dog?
I also agree that Dean's car looks good in white. But I have a problem, and that is I just can't leave things alone. So when I spray a car, I always change it.
My brother, re-sprayed his MkII Cortina in Ford Classic White. I remember saying to him 'why do it the same colour?' But after I sprayed it, I could see why. It looks awesome. And Dean has seen it (in pics anyway). That's my other problem, I put so much time and effort into spraying a car, trying to perfect it's lines and panel alignment, that by the end of it I fall in love with the shape of it. I suppose that's why I like my wagon so much...

Stick with the white if you dont want to completely rebuild it,
and i think really straight and well painted white cars actually stand out
