hi , been putting together a 2.6 astron , everything goin well except for the timing chain , the old one and the new one doesnt have the bright coloured links on them like the manual says.
any body know how many links apart the marks are to align the cam /crank ?

I allways dail my cams in so dont use the std marks and not knowing what cam your using
but if you put 2 pistons on tdc make them 1 and 4 now the cam should be in the firing position on one and change over on the other
so the change over is where to set your timing
the exhuast should be closing and the inlet opening on that cylinder and both will be just open at tdc about the same amount
mind you if you are running an after market cam you will need to dail it in to the makers spec
