Post by 84gksigmawa »

Hey all not sure if anyones interested lol but i thought i should put something i have found after all the help i've had from u guys (H)
I just finished putting a 2.6 in my gk it was originally a 1.6 with 4 speed manual now a 5 speed hehehe just thought i'd say that i left the 1.6 diff in i cant remember what the ratio difference is but can find it again if anyone interested but in short 1st 2nd an 3rd all have more go while 4th an 5th still remain tall enuf to b standard which means great power down low but still runs off the clock if i want it too haha just thort id say cheap upgrade to me an works wonders for the fun factor :) cheers.

Good to hear you are happy with your mods. But........... there is no way your GK was factory 1600. AFIK the 4G32 was only available in the GE Sigmas, hell I don't think the 1850 was even available in the GK. Someone may have backdated the engine at some stage but AFIK the GK was only available in either 2.0 or 2.6

The GK Siggy's all ran BW diffs. The 1.6L and 2.0L had a 3.70 ratio diff where as the 2.6L run a 3.42 ratio, which is around an 8% difference.

Cheers.

Yeah there was definately a 1.6L GK. The last of the sigma's to have the saturn. The chassis no should be gk3-m-41. It was basically the lowest vehicle of the range. The GN was the only model that didn't have the saturn engine at all.

perhaps the saturns used in the GK were improved over the saturns used in the GE and later galants?
if so that 1.6L you just took out might be interesting for someone with a galant..

In the GK's, the only variant to come out with a 1.6 litre (with 4 speed manual only) was the entry level XL sedans...

The Saturns in the Gk's were belt drive, same as the Colts. The RAA Driving School had these as their instructors cars. Didn't have a lot of go,but great for learners.
