pepper pot tyre size?

Post by max »

Hi guys, just after some advice on tyre sizes on my gsr pepper pots?, i have 205 wide on the front at the moment with spacers. will use 195's to get rid of the spacers. But with what tyre height? 55?, 60? Also whats the widest tyre to fit on the rears? has any one had 225 wide on them?, What do most people use on these rims?, any help would be great

The PepperPot's are 15x6 inch rim's. Normal tyre size is 195/60 R15. I have 225/60 R15's on the back of my GK Turbo.

Pretty sure you can get 245 on the back of a sigma. c-furnance said once he has 265 on the back of one of his scorpions.
The 265's were on a set of steelies widened to 8 inches. There is no way i would try fitting anything that wide to a Pepperpot or turbo rim. The sidewall flex was bad enough on the 14x8's.

I'm currently running 195/50/15's on my turbo rims. Not recommended on a Sigma unless you like cruising down the freeway at 3500rpm. The overall diameter matches up good for a Galant though.

Hey Chris,
If they are a good match for a galant, you could give them to me.

If the stock tyre is 195/60 you can go either 215/55 or 235/50 and you will have the same rolling diameter so it won't mess with your speedo or tacho at speed.

Rolling diameters
195/60 = 61.53cm's
215/55 = 61.72
235/50 = 61.6cm's

when your talking about tacho speed is that just the rear wheels, i need to run 195 wide on the front because the 205's i currently using need spaces or they rub on the strut towers. At the moment i have got stockies on the back i think they are 175/75 r14s? But will be wanting some wide tyres on the peper pots for when i go to the drags. So if i had 195/55 r15s on the front and say 215/55 r15s on the back, would this be an ok combo? or even 235/50 r15s on rear?

Front tyres have no effect on your speedo and the rears are the ones the gearbox controls.
Yes running any of the sizes I listed above on the back will keep your speedo as dam to spot on as you will get.
Why are you running the fronts on spacers if you have stockies that will fit??

i got the 205 tyres for free(was pretty broke at the time) so put them on the pepper pots, and now am doing the sigma up a bit to enter the easternats. Hence the reason for using stockies on the rear(burnouts)and the wider eg.235's(for the drags), for a bit of fun! I also have got a set of 3.89 diff gears, will this also affect the my spedo/tacho reading?

I have 55's on the front and 60's on the back

I much prefer the 60 for appearance. The 55's look odd when you are trying to keep the stock bodied look happening :\
