Jap-spec look or Street Machine look for my GE Sigma??

Hi guys, I need your help. Over the years, I've been basically considering two styles to modify and restore my GE Sigma to. I was originally going for the Street Machine look but recently I fell in love with the Jap-spec Galant Sigmas and now I can't decide what look I want for my GE Sigma SE!! Here are the two options and please leave your opinion in the poll:

Street Machine look: skinny tyres up front, fat tyres at the back, Convo Pro wheels all around (15x5 front, 15x9 rear), Falcon GT tear drop mirrors on front doors, all badges removed. Please note I will NOT be fitting a bonnet scoop like on the yellow car below.

Jap-spec look: original Japanese market grille badge, rear quarter panel "Galant Sigma" badges, rear number plate bezel with "Galant" name on it, front fender/guard mounted rear view mirrors, either stock wheels (rears widened) or old-school Japanese style rims (again with rears wider than the fronts). The brown Sigma below has the stock wheels I'm thinking of using and the second photo has a nice example of a Jap-style old school rims.

The Jap-spec look wins hands down for me, I'm still not sure about the mirror though

Yeah I just want something different that not many people have had before, but I guess a GE Sigma is pretty unique these days since not many have survived...

To be honest I do prefer the Street Machine look because it looks tougher but I liked the Jap-look because it's rare in Australia... I posted more photos that I scanned off that nice Street Machine GE Sigma in my blog, here are a couple of the best pics:

Jap Spec for sure, the Street Machine look is so 1980's you will need to get some skin tight stonewash jeans and a fur lined denim jacket. A mullet would work too.

Ok, I don't know if it's because I've been watching too many hotrod dvds lately but I decided I might take the project Sigma through a different direction. Now I know many will probably not like it but I want to hotrod-o-rize my Sigma! What does that mean? Well, I'm talking black primer paint (matt black), no badges, lowered, either black or red stock rims, stock width steel rims on the front, widened stock steel rims on the rear, Triton V6 engine and manual gearbox conversion from Trition 2WD, but instead of EFi, put either tripple 2bl carbies or one single 4bl carbie.

Why this strange combination? Well old hotods were cars that were put together from parts of different old cars, made to go fast on a budget, and that is exactly what my Sigma was before I pulled it off the road. Me and my dad used to spent time together working on the Sigma and I want to do a similar thing to the Sigma in dad's memory. Plus I really miss driving the Sigma, so doing things this way will make the car cheaper to modify and more streetable when compared to the big turbo rotary engine I wanted! So I still get to have what I consider a cool car, sooner and cheaper.

Another big reason for going the hotrod route with the Sigma is because I don't think anyone has ever done this with a Sigma, well not exactly the way I want it. I have only ever seen two Sigmas painted in black primer, both of them wagons and both of them from people of this forum:

So yeah, that colour but make the car sorta have this kind of look below:

So what do you guys think? I know I know, here comes the flaming...

Hummm, come to think of it, I prefer Matte Blue, plus it will match the original blue SE interior and it also means I don't have to strip and re-spray the engine compartment since it's already blue in colour!

Also, I rang around getting quotes and it will cost roghly $1000 to media blast the body to get it to bare metal so I can repair the rust.

This is the look I'm now after:

What ever floats your boat I suppose..
I love the look of hot rods, I've always wanted a 32 coupe.
I suppose the question is how do you make sigma taillights fit with a hot rod theme. The GE round headlights would go with the rod look no probs. So I suppose that the GE is the best model to do it to.

Chrome on or off? De bumpered? Front guard vent removed? Shaved handles and Locks?
I think it could work. A successful hot rod is all about the details. Good luck with this one, keep us posted.

For the record I would still go black, not blue. But it's your car.

Yeah I like black, but blue would match my blue interior which is in good condition and it means I don't have to spend extra money doing a new interior! Hot Rods were originally old cars built to go fast on a budget, with parts from other cars. That in essence is what my Sigma is to me. And I agree, out of all Sigmas, the GE is the one that would look the best as a hotrod and/or custom. And another big money saver in painting the car primer/matte blue is that I won't have to paint under the bonnet, boot, etc. I must paint the outside of the car to cover all the rust and panel repairs though.

I really miss driving the car so I want to do things on a budget so I get to drive it sooner. But to me, doing things on a budget still doesn't mean cutting corners, so don't be surprised if the Sigma is not on the road till a year from now :)
