Post by 516MA »

i have bought:

New spark plugs
New fuel filter
New Oil filter
Nulon Oil flush

Is this all i need other than oil? and i forgetting something besides an air filter coz i got a pod lol :D

Is there something i should check to get it running right? i also got a fuel pump coz mines leaking a little but that will be a couple of days need to send one up from sydney or somewhere coz none in stock :(

What oil should i use? its a 2 litre astron and done about 140,000 kms

it all depend's on how bigger service you want to do. Also depends on how regulary it has been serviced aswell.

here's a basic list of thing's:
plugs
lead's
cap
rotor
point's (if it has it)
oil filter
air filter
fuel filter
coolant
engine oil

And some extra stuff if ya feel like doing it:
gearbox oil (no one ever does it)
diff oil (no one ever does this either)
brake fluid
and the list goes on.....
like i said it all depend's on what ya want to do.

Most Sigma's don't have points, but some older ones did.

The rotor, well thats the little arm that spins around inside the dizzy cap to distribute the spark to the appropriate cylinder. They can get burnt, or the studs inside the dizzy cap burn also.

When you have finished your service, get the ignition timing checked by a mechanic if you don't have a timing light.

The other thing you may want to consider if you're doing a major service, is get the carby overhauled. Could make a big improvement on performance & fuel economy.

They go in the diff oil & gear box oil section

Shall i say the obvious?
-check tappet clearances - its only a rocker cover gasket.

Do you have a Gregories manual?

If not then buy that over the dizzy leads.... much more valuable.

no i dont have a manual i was getting one last night on ebay and same bum paid 25 cents more than me with 2 seconds left!

So what are the tappet clearances im also thinking of buying a gasket kit and just replacing all the gaskets as id rather be safe than drop oil on the track ;) if i do that ill be taking the balance shafts out lol

Just found a gasket kit on ebay but its for a 4G54 will this fit a 4G52?
