GN Sigma Temperature and Fuel Gauge not working

Hi Team,

Finally found a GN Sigma that I have long dreamed for.

I now encounter a very common problem. The temperature gauge and fuel gauge does work properly. The temperature gauges goes up slightly then drops. This is the same for the fuel gauge.

Any help will be much appreciated. A mechanic told me that i needed to take out the cluster to fix the issue and its a cluster issue. Not the temp sensor (I bought one and was abut to change it)

Im really concerned that Im overheating but cant tell. Hence my short distant driving for now.

Cheers Guys

Yes you need to take out the guages and clean/or replace the voltage regulator which is mounted on the rear of the guage cluster.Very easy to clean,if still no good an auto electrician/instrument specialist should be able top source a new voltage reulator.

Just an update...I took out the whole cluster and bought a LM7809 Voltage Regulator from JayCar for $1.85. The problem is now solved. The hardest part of the process was putting the cluster back in.....its fiddly.

Appreciative of your help

Mate be careful with your fuel gauge I had the same problem with my gj got the same regulator from j car because they are not exactly the same as the factory one there is a ten percent difference so far as mine is concerned when my fuel gauge reads between three quarters and full it is full, so there is about a ten percent difference regards Chris
