Help please!
Help please!
hey guys,
when i took my intake manifold off to replace the gasket i took all my hoses off and got a wonderful surprise :? and the culprit? this water hose
http://i1015.photobucket.com/albums/af2 ... 1245999320
the water hose was cracked and broken and the metal fitting was rust out completely, the hose was holding on by a thread. I dont have a clue how it didnt have water gushing out when it had water in, anyway my question is where can i get one of these fittings? and will any water hose to the right size and length work? Because the cracked one looked like it was cracked because it was a straight hose that was bended over?
i have one other completely different question ill a later model 2.6 head fit a 2 litre motor???
Thanks guys
Nick

Don't try to insure a 1984 Galant Turbo 2000 with RACV, they'll insist that it only came out with a super charger, and that the turbo is an illegal mod........

Hey guys
lowmion, im up in ipswich
sigmaproject, yea its the hose that comes off the water pump pipe that runs around the back of the motor. i was just amazed that unless i took it off it didnt show any signs of stress, no water coming out or anything.
Thanks again

Re: Help please!
Stealth you are correct, but also wrong as it also has a little barb coming off of it for the water to go to the choke on the carby.

Also interested in where they are from.
Getting back to origonal post, what do you mean "later model" 2.6 head?
As in a late model astron 2 head on to the 2lt? Surely can, match made in heaven!

Re: Help please!
I take it this is what you are after (not for sale, the part is NOS and is attached to a NOS inlet manifold). I made something simular using about 6 brass fittings (screw, t-piece, reducer, barb and right angle bit) will try to get a pic of it when i find it. Cost me about $20 for the brass fittings from memory.

Re: Help please!
Those free one's sound OK. I'll take one of those ;)
Re: Help please!
I had a similar problem and went to my friendly AutoPro and built up one out of their brass fitings. No more corrosion.
Re: Help please!
hey again,
i bought a fitting off a 250 crossflow motor and tapped the hole for a 3/8th fitting because the guy down at repco said there was no such thing as a 15mm thread on a fitting. plus i didnt get one with the side part and water was flowing out of the carb so i presume that thats the choke but i just covered it up so not water can flow out is this bad????? i wanna no b4 i blow something lol.

Re: Help please!
With the coolant pluged at the carby, you will probably find the choke will stay on.
astron 1 heads, only different is the cam used between the 2lt and 2.6lt.
astron 2 heads? yeah they vary a bit...
what are you wanting to know exactly?
Nick.

Re: Help please!
i wanted to no if i could get an astron 2 2.6 head and fit it to a 2 litre astron one block?
with this choke thing if i got a T piece and stuck it in the rubber hose with the 3rd tube thing going to the carby would this eliminate the choke staying on?
Thanks Nick
