GK GSR Sigmas

Post by 81GH »

Hey there,
just recently bought a 1985 gk gsr
with astron 2
and bought another one for spare parts
the spare part one is an 84 as far as i know
has the astron 1 2.6 in it.

Just wondering if people can confirm
they both have the same diffs and gearboxes
because don't wanna find out half way through
they are slighty different
the back brake setup looks the same
we just took the wheel off

because if there the same
we can have spares
and get one rebuilt or watever while still being able to drive
it while getting repaired.

Only problem you could have with gearboxes is if the Astron II was out of an auto Sigma or a Magna.

Its likely that the early one just had another motor put in.

Even so you could just swap entire box/engine then get the other one rebuilt. Whats the engine number. Should me M6blahblah...one of the numbers/letters tells you whether its a auto or manual so just check that.

Everytime ive swapped motors ive done it with the box attached its HEAPS easier.

What is wrong with an Astron II from an auto Sigma? I have an auto Sigma GN and want to convert to a jap 5 speed.

What he said ;)

You will need to find a 2 litre box to fit behind your Astron II auto block.
