was just wondering if anybody knew any way i could get more performance out of my Astron 2000 engine. it is in a rally car with a 5 speed and a locker, along with full cage, fuel cell ect. i also have a hitachi HT18s turbo i am making a custom manifold for to get some boost happening, but as that is long term is there anything simpler for now??
thanks
astron 2000 performance, possible turbo.

cheapest and simpliest way ... NOS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Isn't racing all about being competitive and being in the running for a class win (not just going fast, or having a big HP motor)?brownie1990 wrote:it is in a rally car
My suggestion is work out what class you are going to be racing in and read the rules for that class. Then build a car that best fits those rules. Fitting a turbo may put you into a class where a Sigma would not be competitive regardless off engine or horsepower?
Work out where you want to end up, then only spend your coin on getting there. You will be wasting money doing anything else.
If you want to stay in the standard type class, for pretty much standard cars (don't know what they call it),basic stuff like boring, balancing, dyno tuning, new suspension (because if it goes better it should handle better), and get tires to suit the surface you are running on.
My brothers mate gave me advice about rallying about 20 years ago.
Don't spend any money making it go faster until you can drive faster then the car can handle.
I thought it made sense...

Dave...

i am running in an open class, private rally. prize pool of 3 grand, just small for now. i am racing against a few quick cars though, VS holden commodore with a detroit locker, monstaa performance chip, extreme clutch etc. also a bluebird trx with webbers and a cam. i won the last rally in a Toyota Corona wagon, 2litre, auto. with no work done to it besides a side draft exhaust, i can drive, its the car that needs improving.
cheers guys
