I'll start off wen I went down to kwinana few months ago I run 17.5 at 135km on my first time on the strip and all I've done to the engine is single side draught and exhuast I just want to see wat times and with what mods you guys have done

Re: 1/4 mile times ?
i never ran mine at the actual strip because adelaide had no dragstrip for many years...
but i ran a 12.9 @116MPH on the Gtech in the old siggy. running about 220RWKW
i wouldnt call it legit, but its somewhere within a tenth or 2 of the mark of actual times.
the gtech was 1 10th off at AIR vs exact timing with the mph surprisingly accurate.

I don't know what 1/4 mile times my sigma would have done - straights are only there to connect corners
I have a few times for the whole track not just the easy bit
Phillip island 2:00.5 Sandown 1:30 Winton long track 1:41 cant remember Caulder times
Morwell Hillclimb old track 35.87 sec

Having said that, I do want to run the Galant down the track a time or two, just to put some numbers to my efforts. This also will apply to Collinsgrove and Mallala times
Re: 1/4 mile times ?
Gd galant. Turbo 2.6 running 15 pounds of boost. Supra 5 speed and 4.11 rear. Ran 13.2sec. Been meaning to head back because I had retreads with strips literally missing from them and I actually got semi slicks now so should launch much better.

Not a nice thing to say........i could always say that a circuit car is just a rally car thats afraid of getting dirty
A racetrack is a racetrack, irrespective of track layout, tyres, suspension, gearing, HP, handling, aerodynamics and safety all play the same roles

theyre not heavy cars, so they dont need the power that modern cars do. to do the same times

I think I would be shooting for a flat 14 in the Galant. NA 4G63 with about 120kw at the wheels @ 1000kg with my ass in it, lol

Yea that's true most older mitsi's don't weigh much more than 1100 kg I want to run 13' s naturally aspirated is this doable for you guys that hav built these motors its 4g54 to btw or am dreaming car goes all right now but I still want more out of it

Re: 1/4 mile times ?
its doable....but u got to shed the kg's as well (the casr i mean)......sadly (IMO) the motor justisnt big enough to put out the type of hp for that time (without making it unbearable to drive to the track ityself)

Re: 1/4 mile times ?
You should be lower than that.Mine ran a flat 13 and mine isnt that powerful.A112H wrote:I think I would be shooting for a flat 14 in the Galant. NA 4G63 with about 120kw at the wheels @ 1000kg with my ass in it, lol
I ran a 12.7 with one of those G-Tech things but as stated before, not that accurate.

Re: 1/4 mile times ?
77galantv6.how much power and torque is your car making roughly to run flat 13 because that's what I'm aiming for I still need a bit more practice I'm confident I'll be able to get close to 15 ATM with better launches and reaction

Re: 1/4 mile times ?
Thats about 130kw, I am only thinking I will get 110-120kw at the wheels (150-160hp) or about 140-150kw at the fly (180-200hp)77galantv6 wrote:On the dyno a while ago it put out 174 hp, Cant remember the torque though....
According to my calculator 120rwkw pushing 950kg should se the 1/4 mile in about 13.7 seconds
Re: 1/4 mile times ?
Thank for the repley that not bad at all 174 hp in a car that weighs under a ton must be good fun to drive

Re: 1/4 mile times ?
Big HP figures are only worth noting on a Dyno sheet........
driver ability isnt the factor to a good time.....gearbox plays a big part (auto or man, how many gears, gear ratios, what sort of clutch), diff ratio, tyre size (and psi) and being such a little engine (in comparison to the norm of a drag car), weight is a factor (even the weight of a driver effects your run)
(what track you race on can make a difference too....if you're on a purpose built drag strip....the track far more stickier so you can launch a bit harder...as opposed to just ordinary concrete)
Essentially when it come to drag racing..... you can make as much or as lil HP you want......but to get your best run out of it.......you MUST put that power to the ground
And...let's be realisitic here......the vast majority of us run 2.6L 4 cylinder motors.....when you consider that the very best of the HSV's and FPV car are running 12's and 13's......all of a sudden.....our times aren't bad at all
(at the time) a brand new VS SS ute (even with russell ingall at the wheel) was only able to manage the best of a low 16

Re: 1/4 mile times ?
I have been told that my 1600 turbo engine has run 13s in a gd running 20 pound boost on av gas I haven't seen papers but hey he's a fellow member don't see the point to b/s about it lol but will trial it at 15 pound on pump fuel when the got is finished
Re: 1/4 mile times ?
My Sigma Turbo ran a 12.8 at the Hidden Valley Drag Strip in Darwin when it first opened.
SO many year ago. It was just for fun day with the opening of a new strip.
It was a 32 degree day, about 5:45 in the afternoon. I had hole in the wastegate diaphragm and no boost gauge so I had no idea of the boost, I would just change gear when it detonated. It had the standard open centre diff and standard suspension. (I do think think stock shocks work best in the rear)
My time put so many dedicated drag cars to shame and the response I got was not positive.
THAT WAS THE MOMENT I TOOK IT PERSONALLY TO HUMILIATE COMMONWHORES!
