Well u have to pay 12 months rego and a changeover/transfer fee which is something like a % of what u pay for it.

if u buy it get a receipt saying something like this

Model of car:
Price:
Seller : ( Sellers name )
Buyer : (Buyers name )
Sellers Address:
Vin/Engine/Chassis number:
Rego number:
Phone number of seller:

otherwise itll be a pain to register :| Lol

as Mick said, you will need blue slip as well as the normal rego and transfer fees.
plus you have to pay for new plates...

basically add around 700 bucks to the price for everything
(not including stuff that needs doing for blue slip)

As said above. It will need to pass a Blue slip. Then 12 mths rego and Green slip as per usual.
It will help greatly at the RTA if you have the original rego papers and a signed receipt from the seller.

cheers

it all comes down to whether or not there is anything not roadworthy on it....

A main part of a Blue slip in NSW is an Identity check. If you've got previous rego papers from another state that show the engine and body numbers (and hopefully the weight) you should be OK. Otherwise, make sure the numbers can be read on the car - ie no grime etc. I had to put my Volvo on a weigh-bridge when I brought it over from SA because there was no record of its weight on the papers (Factory manual wasnt good enough for them).
