UPGRADING THE GL GALANT BRAKE BOOSTER
UPGRADING THE GL GALANT BRAKE BOOSTER
Just wondering, i am converting my GL galant to a rotary 13B Turbo and would like to upgrade the brake booster, does anyone know of straight bolt on or if the sigma boosters are better and can be fitted. Cheers Charlie

Hey mate,
Check out the suspension/brake section, you might find something there.
But what model Galant is it?
Is it the booster or the master cylinder you want to upgrade?
What are you planning on doing with the rest of the brakes?

Re: UPGRADING THE GL GALANT BRAKE BOOSTER
is a 13b turbo even legal in a galant ??
GH Sigma, 16" Mesh wheels, sports steering wheel and a V8 exhaust
Re: UPGRADING THE GL GALANT BRAKE BOOSTER
Should be as the 13b has a swept volume of 2.6 litres so it would be much the same as running a 2.6 astron turbo
Re: UPGRADING THE GL GALANT BRAKE BOOSTER
Most states don't allow for a 2.6 turbo in a Galant as far as i'm aware. Some people have put in a 2.6 and claimed it to be a 2L engine instead to get it through. Although each state is different.

to legally fit a 2.6 turbo the vehicle needs to weigh at least 1040kg

Re: UPGRADING THE GL GALANT BRAKE BOOSTER
Well he hasnt stated if it is to be Road registered or not.
But for Rego, all i have heard is 2.6 N/A can be injected or Carb
or 2Litre Turbo...
So an injected 13B would pass...
And im not sure about a 12A Turbo??
BBYVAL you may want to check out and get intouch with "SLIMER"
He is building an engineered LA Lancer with a rotor
He may help if you are wanting to register and engineer.
Back to the original question,
Can anyone help with Booster and or Master cylinder upgrades??

Re: UPGRADING THE GL GALANT BRAKE BOOSTER
Hey Guys sorry about the delayed response.
Its a 76 model, i have commodore brakes(twin piston at the front & standard rear brakes from a commodore at the rear). It is illegal to place a 13B Turbo in a galant. As mentioned a 13B NA is considered to be 2.6 so the turbo is illegal recently i have changed my mind and decided to keep the Series 5 13B Turbo and gearbox aside and rebuild another Series 4 13B NA Bridgeport engine with a 48mm IDA webber setup. The NA version is legal the only thing to watch our for is emissions and sound, the emissions can be controlled i can take the injection setup off the series 5 engine i am already taking the series 5 box of it to use in my conversion. i just want to upgrade the booster.
Cheers

i would rather not go injected because i want the old skool look and feel, just purchased a set of B45 simmons 15 inch centre 16 inch dish by 7 inches polished centre they look unreal.

Re: UPGRADING THE GL GALANT BRAKE BOOSTER
So why is it that you want to upgrade the Booster?
And what are you hoping to achieve by doing it?
I would have thought you would get more advantage from upgrading the Master Cylinder?
