Obsession over a not-so rare car!

For several years I've obsessed over this car and I saw it again this morning for a brief moment. The shinyest, mintist bright red GK GSR I've ever seen. An old boy drives it and his missus is always in the passenger seat. A couple of years ago I spotted it and followed him for a while to see if he went home so I could leave a note on it wanting to purchase the thing. The car pulled up outside a nice neat house, and another couple all dressed in their finest bowling whites came out and jumped in the back seat. So off they all went to bowls in the mintest GSR ever, all dressed in white with the shineyest paint in the world and pepperpots that you need sunnies on to look at. I want this car!!! Anyone else obsessed over a car that probably isn't all that rare?

Yep, R30 Skyline
Ever since I stacked my old one into a ditch I've been almost obsessed with getting another one, it was by far the best car I've ever owned. I love my Scorpions, but if a half decent R30 sedan came up at the right price I'd sell them in a flash :$
I also have an S30/S130 Z obsession, but that's understandable lol

When I was 15 I was fruit picking in the Riverland, a near by farmer was selling one, it was that red/orange colour, targa wheels, V8, manual I fell in love but it was too late in the season to raise the cash. I looked pretty much like this one

Image

My wife hates them but she understands and knows if we ever win lotto or come into some money I will be buying one :)

Ha ha, the thing is while I don't mind GSR's and now own one, the cars in general don't do much for me. It's just this one in particular ( that I call Grandpa GSR every time I see it ) that is in such good nick that I want it!

P76 and a hail storm= two thing you dont want to get caught in

you dont need to win the lotto to get one of these (maybe to repair it) average price is about $7.50

P76 were beauties, alloy head I think, pretty good early 70's car, think (well everyone says)
you can put a 44gal drum in the boot of a P76, suspect the real problem was the Ford and holden
cars of the time were not bad either .....

They were a 4.4lt All Alloy V8. An enlarged version of the 3.5lt Rover V8's. Don't really get why they didn't take off, I guess it probably was that the XB's and HJ's were selling like hotcakes

I think everyone on here has an obsession for not so rare cars. We have our rarer models but over all nothing to rare about Galants, Sigmas or Scorpions

They were a Buick V6 with an extra 2 cylinders added on. No resemblance or similarity to the Rover engine.

it was based of the buick 215 alloy V8 in which the buick V6 was also roughly based on

The leyland 4.4 is basically a tall deck version of the rover, heads and various other parts will interchange even a timing cover off a vn V6 commo will fit the 4.4

Great little engines

I was under the assumption that the leyland engine had a wider Vee as well. Years ago,one of our clients had a rover that spat a main bearing cap and we thought of fitting a P76 engine, but it wasn't a straight forward swap.

Its still a 90* but its wider at intake level due to the taller deck, so you need to fit spacer plates if you want to use a rover intake it will also cause havoc with headers

its the same as a 400m clevo compared to a 351 clevo

My yellow GE sigma is my obsession :) BIG TIME. a tree fell over in my front yard about 4 years ago, and i had a yellow GE and a yellow Z32 300ZX out the front. mum called and told me and first thing i asked was is the GE ok. i would have rathered the tree fall on the 300zx. the GE is priceless to me. luckly i found another, better GE on ebay a week later. . you could call it fate. someone knew i loved that car and saw fit to supply me with another one.

I have an obsession to MK2 Escorts
Since all my bits were stolen for my galant rally car project,I gave up on it and sold it.
I later acquired a MK2 2 door roller that is straight and rust free.
During negotiations, the guy informed me that there was another 2door and a really good 4door Ghia as parts cars.
The Ghia will be restored for my partner and I am buying just about every thing that comes along.

Really? Mk 2 Escort?
I LOVED my Mk2 Escort Panel Van...but the rust ate it after I got stuck in the South Alligator river :(
I got it home and finally sold it to a friend ("I Love Escorts") :@ who trashed it and dumped its remains in the Stockton dunes. Words fail me .....
Such a great car ...sob

I personally like XE-XF falcons.
Yes i realise they lokk a bit like tissue boxes with the corners cut out but i like them.
I have an 87 XF s-pak sedan, 5 spd manual, shadow grey in colour.
I've had more cars than girlfriends but I've kept this car the longest...I even chose to keep the XF over my GN.

I like the shape of XD-F's and have had 3 XD's in my time. But I never liked the XE-F models, IMHO a real Falcon has a full grill, once the XE had that bonnet in the grill thing I started to lose interest, lol.
I do like BA-F's though :)
