Hey guys, the electric component that attaches to the demister strip thing on my back window has come off from the window on both sides, how do you go about re attaching it, it feels metallic, could i solder it back on? anyone had/solved this problem before? what did you do?

My Sigma has the same problem. I have yet to fix it, but I would have assumed that soldering it back would work.

yes you can solder them back on. I have done it no probs, just dont do what a mate off mine did and heat the glass up too much lol, glass everywhere.

There is a glue that is available for re-attatching them that should be available from most automotive stores.

the glue i used is called loctite 401 and it dries within seconds, it worked well on reattaching those demister connectors

you sure you used 401?

i think you should probably have used 3888

There is two types of solution there is a dimister repair and a dimister contact repairer. The first one is a liquid paper type solution which you paint on to fix broken dimister lines, the second is for the terminals. I have soldered these before but the trick is having a good enough soldering iron. low wattage ones while melt the connection will tend to create dry joints which dont conduct electricity well, good high wattage irons will create great joints but need to be used quickly to stop window from goign bang.

steps for soldering iron would be heat and melt the solder on the connector first. Then add new solder to the connector, then melt to the glass. this means the connector solder will be semi liquid before the glass one and usually will wash the glass one correctly and create a good joint again. Use carefully, residual or too much heat is a killer.
