Engine bay clean up

Post by brendon »

Motors out and the engine bay got a good degrease/clean up on the weekend.

is there any tips or areas of concern to do a tidy up before starting to put the motor back in.

was thinking along the lines of just making the engine bay a bit smoother/cleaner.

if you can do a bit of a basic re-wire....that always helps out the look of the engine bay

Replace the plastic ribbed stuff (if its got it). It looks a treat when the harness is all in that stuff.

Scrub things like the radiator overflow bottle and windscreen washer bottle. Take the radiator out completely and repaint it in an epoxy satin black, do the same to the pulleys. If you're not replacing the hoses give them a good clean and spray them with a cheap silicon/tyre shine to freshen them up. Little things like this can really lift the overall appearance of the engine bay...

It can also be worth replacing any of the grommets and plugs in the fire-wall and making sure the brake lines are neat and tidy next to the firewall... with no engine, you have unprecedented access :-)

nice, looks very clean.
thats my long term goal.

is it just a case of being creative with the wiring location?
