4g54 build questions? all advice welcome!
Hi everyone, my name is dan and im new to this forum!
Sorry but im not a mitsu boy, im a corolla lover with a twist!
Im in the process of doing a 4g54 build and conversion into one of my corollas
Plans are,
Bore the block out 40thou
Flat top pistons
Molly rings
Lightened and knife edged crank
Get everything balanced
M7 head,
new valves,
beehive springs
Custom retainers
Roller rockers
Custom cam regrind
Efi conversion,
custom intake manifold
Turbo manifold ( hi mount )
Anti surge turbo
Turbosmart boost controller
Now my questions are
With the m7 head, does anyone know where i can get a turbo manifold to suit? I dont really want to have to make one up
Also, what compression ratio would be ideal? I only really want to run around 10psi
Thanks guys

im selling an engine, ready to go. capable of a comfortable 250+ rwkw.
if your only wanting 10 psi, a dead stock sigma engine will take it all day. my original stocker ran 18psi &210kw for years

I'd hate to imagine how many people cringe and sigh when they realise its not a 1.6L Toyota enngine in the car

I had the same thought seeing that there are many /better choices available like a 4G63/64 , 3RZ, 3SGE, Ecotec for starterscheaterparts wrote:I must say I thought it to be a strange choice of engine for the corolla -Scorpma82 wrote:interesting engine choice given the car ur using.....why such a conversion????

BTW 5ksev,
Incase you thought this, we're not judging you or trying to put you off your plans,
It's just an odd conversion (one that I've never heard of),
What model Corolla you have?

with 10 psi I would take a leaf out of Karls book ( karl_2ltgc ) as used on his baby sh!t brown galant5ksev wrote:Hi everyone, my name is dan and im new to this forum!

that ran a std M6 head ( same as your M7 ) with flat tops --- std comp no need to change it
dont even try to run roller rockers as you with find it hard to get any custom grinds
however a good 31/79 grind or the same as a 35/75 grind with the lobe centers opened out to 114 deg with early model solid rockers
will work very well
this style of build will have no lag and will pull just like a std engine under the boost with a very healthy gain as the boost hooks in

Its almost a bolt-in conversion, I did a 4g54 - ke35 conversion about 20 years ago, used the sigma sump and 5 peed just needed to slot the mount holes in the crossmember and used some rubber mounts that I had sitting in the shedScorpma82 wrote:interesting engine choice given the car ur using.....why such a conversion????

Wow, would never had suspected the 4g54 was almost a bolt-in affair, lil surprised it's not more common in the Toyota world
