Re: Megasquirt EFI
I am interested, but it would have to wait for a while. Funds for my project car are dried up for now. I was thinking about just using a stock ECU for now, then upgrading to Megasquirt later. Do you know if Megasquirt can use all the stock sensors etc.? I should also mention that my EFI conversion i...

Re: Cottees' Sigma GN Build
I have run out of Sigma money at the moment so I can't buy any new parts for it for the moment. I do have enough parts etc. to keep me going for a while. Earlier I had a look at both a Sigma and Cordia seats and how they all work. The Cordia seats wont bolt straight into the Sigma, and the Sigma rai...

Re: Seats
I picked up a set of Cordia seats from U-Pull-It the other week, and the rails wont bolt into a GN Sigma. The bolt pattern to attach the rails to the seat are also different.

I actually like the sound of a stock Astron I 2.6L engine revving to around 4.5krpm.

Re: Interesting engine swaps.
For my Sigma GN project I considered a 1JZ/2JZ swap or putting the complete running gear from an EVOIV into the Sigma. 1JZ has been put into a GH before and just fits. I can't find the link to it at the moment. From the measurement I did, the 1JZ would fit into the Sigma GJ-GN ok. The radiator might...

At the moment my thermostat is at the rear of the engine.Sigmaproject wrote:Is you water entry to the head at the front or the rear. If you have chenged the thermostat housing to the front , you dont need the big rear water port. Just Sigma size will do.

Re: what ECU for astron turbo?
I too would be interested in a MegaSquirt. If you get enough people together, it might be cheaper to do a bulk order.
Re: head
The head I have is off a Sigma GN with Astron II. The rear most coolant port on the intake side is too small for the Magna EFI intake. I am thinking about getting a bare Magna head and putting everything from the Sigma head onto the Magna head. Anyone know if that would work, or would getting a comp...

Re: Cottees' Sigma GN Build
Thanks for the info. I have a narrow block since I have an auto GN. I know the fun all too well of loom work. One morning around 6am, I was late for work and my Commodore VN battery was dead again. I had a spare battery in the Sigma, so ripped that out of the Sigma, and popped it into the Commodore....

Re: Cottees' Sigma GN Build
http://cottees.net/images/2021/11/11/DSC00538.jpg I just laid out the loom I got from U-Pull-It to see what would need to be changed. I went past City Dismantlers earlier and dropped in and got some prices. I asked about a TR/TS ECU and they told me that there is 4 different ECUs, and I need the ri...

Re: what's the difference between GH and GJ?
GJ and GK are pretty much the same, except for the front is slightly different, and the GK/GN have slightly newer engines and transmissions. Since you have a GH, I highly recommend getting the Gregory's Automotive Service and Repair Manual for GH/GJ Sigmas. I have the GH/GJ, GK/GN, Magna TR/TS 2.6L,...

Re: Cottees' Sigma GN Build
The chop method is the way a Sigma/Galant/Scorpion/etc. EFI mod has always been done. I just thought that everyone and their dog has done an EFI conversion, why not do one that is a little different. The Commodore VN/VP use a transversely mounted FWD engine that has been turned 90 degrees for a RWD ...

Re: Recommended Turbo for Astron II 2.6L?
The Disco Potato looks good, and 320HP is plenty. Might have to wait for that part since even my Ruddy money wouldn't pay for one. I still have to work out where I am going to get the exhaust manifold from. I might have to get one made up. What is wrong with the T25 Flange?

Re: The imported jap-spec GJ GSR 1984 (aka my baby)
Do you have any photos of the rear suspension, diff, etc? It would be interesting to see a Sigma with IRS, and to see how similar the chassis is to the Aus Spec Sigmas. I was considering getting the IRS off a Starion and putting it onto my Sigma. There was one at U-Pull-It the other month, and I did...

I am considering using a MegaSquirt II. They are pretty cheap if you know how to solder.

A little more fibre glass, and a better angle to show what is going on. This will be the last fibre glassing pic for a while, at least till it's almost finished.

Re: Recommended Turbo for Astron II 2.6L?
I was thinking about using a Toyota SC12 or SC14. I am still early into my build, so I am yet to make a final decision. If I don't end up using the M10 turbo I have at the moment, I might sell it to fund either a larger turbo or super charger.
